At the 55th anniversary celebration of the National Children's Hospital and the 2024 Pediatric Conference held on July 11, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan said that the second facility of the National Children's Hospital in Quoc Oai (Hanoi) with 300 inpatient beds is about to be put into operation.
Construction of the National Children's Hospital, branch 2, began in February 2023, with a scale of 300 inpatient beds and a total investment of more than 880 billion VND.
This facility is about 20km from the center of Hanoi , adjacent to Thang Long Avenue, National Highway 21A and Provincial Roads 80 and 81; located right next to Central Maternity Hospital, Facility 2.
According to the National Children's Hospital, the project is expected to be put into use in the third quarter of 2024. The investment in building a new facility 2 of the National Children's Hospital is expected to provide optimal healthcare solutions for children in the suburbs of Hanoi and neighboring provinces, including the problem of overload at the inner-city facility 1.
The National Children's Hospital was originally called the Institute for Child Health Protection, with only 150 beds. Now the number has increased to more than 2,000 beds at facility 1.
In 2023 alone, the hospital provided safe, high-quality, and specialized medical examination and treatment for nearly 1.2 million outpatients and more than 120,000 inpatients. Management activities closely followed the actual situation and changes in disease patterns.
In particular, the hospital continuously develops and applies new, high-tech techniques to help treat many difficult and complicated cases, such as: placing electrodes deep into the cerebral cortex in epilepsy surgery, liver transplant, kidney transplant, stem cell transplant, cardiovascular surgery, gene therapy, etc.
