Standardize and improve the professional quality of reproductive support centers according to international standards.

Although Vietnam has achieved many successes, there are still subjects that are very difficult to succeed in reproductive support techniques, requiring large investments in human quality, equipment and management systems to standardize and improve the professional quality of reproductive support centers according to international standards.

On the afternoon of October 14, the Central Obstetrics Hospital organized a scientific workshop on "Improving quality management in Reproductive Support", gathering the participation of many leading experts in the field of reproductive support, focusing on discussing global trends in IVF quality management, applying digital transformation in treatment management,...

This is an important scientific forum, demonstrating the Center's commitment to standardizing and improving professional quality according to international standards.

The success rate of assisted reproductive technology is comparable to regional and international standards.

People's Physician, Professor, Doctor Nguyen Duy Anh, Director of the Central Obstetrics Hospital, said that Vietnam has more than 70 reproductive support centers, of which 8-9 centers are recognized as meeting international standards. Among these centers, there are 2 public hospitals that meet regional and international quality standards, including the Central Obstetrics Hospital.

Vietnam has adequate infrastructure, modern equipment and a team of good experts in the field of assisted reproduction. The Central Obstetrics Hospital plays the role of a leading obstetrics and gynecology hospital, responsible for supporting and improving the quality of other centers across the country. In particular, training, improving expertise and maintaining the quality of the team of experts are among the key factors to achieve good results.

According to the Director of the Central Obstetrics Hospital, the success rate of assisted reproductive technology at the Central Obstetrics Hospital is about 60%, equivalent to the regional and international standards. This is a very encouraging result, although Vietnam's assisted reproductive technology is many years behind the world .

Up to now, the Central Obstetrics Hospital and reproductive support centers have applied international quality management processes, including: Quality management in clinical, laboratory and administrative stages; applying digital technology to monitor and manage the quality of processes; achieving international certifications on quality management.

“The application of strict quality management processes is a key factor in achieving good results in assisted reproduction,” said Professor Nguyen Duy Anh.

Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Sy Hung, Department of Obstetrics, Hanoi Medical University, Center for Reproductive Support, Central Maternity Hospital shared at the workshop.

At the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Sy Hung, Department of Obstetrics, Hanoi Medical University, Center for Reproductive Support, Central Obstetrics Hospital shared about indicators to evaluate the quality of reproductive support centers including: Clinical indicators; Lab indicators and management indicators.

From there, this expert emphasized, each IVF center needs to build its own set of indicators, which can follow a strategy for each stage and these indicators are very valuable in changing practices.

Referring to the experience of pregnant women, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Hoang, Tam Anh General Hospital, Hanoi said that IVF is a long, arduous and difficult process that brings many different emotions to patients and affects the treatment results. Therefore, the patient's experience is an important issue that needs to be considered to improve the quality of treatment.

"Personalization in IVF is very important, helping patients feel listened to and respected, actively participating in treatment decisions can give patients a sense of initiative," Dr. Hoang shared.

To improve patient experience, Dr. Hoang believes that fertility centers need to measure patient experience with tools like FertiQOL and IVF-PEx to understand how patients feel in order to provide direction and solutions.

There needs to be a standard for quality management of reproductive support in Vietnam soon.

Appreciating the conference with leading experts in reproductive support, discussing reproductive techniques and quality management of a reproductive support center, Professor Nguyen Duy Anh hopes that Vietnam's reproductive support field, although lagging behind the world by nearly 15-20 years, will quickly catch up with the world in terms of quality, contributing to the cause of people's health care.

However, according to Professor Anh, despite many achievements, there are still subjects that find it very difficult to succeed in assisted reproductive techniques, requiring large investments in human quality, equipment and management systems.

A lot of knowledge about quality management of reproductive support is shared.

Therefore, it is necessary to continue to maintain and improve the quality of infrastructure and equipment, and continuously train and improve the expertise of the team of experts. In particular, the application of digital technology and international quality management processes is the key solution to improve the efficiency of reproductive support services.

At the workshop, experts shared their experiences on the technical process of assisted reproduction, constantly improving the process to operate smoothly. Experts suggested that Vietnam soon build a Vietnamese quality management standard instead of spending time on paperwork and spending money to apply for international RTAC certification.

According to Master, Doctor Dinh Anh Tuan, Department of Mother and Child Protection, Ministry of Health, while there is no Vietnamese quality management system, the international RTAC is a system implemented by many countries, an international standard that has the value of ensuring the quality of a reproductive support unit. This standard requires medical facilities to continuously improve their quality to maintain certification of this standard.

Recently, the Center for Reproductive Support, Central Maternity Hospital has achieved this certification after going through a rigorous selection process.

Therefore, in parallel with the mobilization of facilities to have RTAC certification and maintain this certification, the representative of the Department of Mother and Child Protection said that the units need to sit together, based on international platforms such as RTAC, ISO, to build and develop processes into Vietnamese standards that are both advanced and suitable to Vietnamese standards, for example, supplementing conditions that are still lacking internationally such as facilities and laws of Vietnam in reproductive support.
