Digital transformation of finance is an inevitable direction to further enhance the role and potential of corporate finance in planning and implementing long-term plans.
However, this requires a synergy between technology, people and ethics in data orientation – that was the consistent message at the workshop organized by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) on July 23 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Technology - finance synergy for sustainable digital transformation
In the context of technology reshaping every field, the Vietnamese financial industry is also entering a period of strong transformation. In order to support the business community to keep up with this trend, on July 23, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) organized a workshop on "Promoting Vietnam's Financial Digital Transformation: Practical Strategies on Data, Ethics, Smart Alliances & Human Resources", with the participation of leading experts, representatives of international organizations and financial technology enterprises. The event also received the support and companionship of KPMG Vietnam, Nuoa.io and the British Business Association in Vietnam (BritCham).
The event was honored to welcome the participation of Mr. Pulkit Abrol - Director of ACCA Asia - Pacific ; Mr. Trinh Hoang Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance, Ministry of Finance; Ms. Nguyen Nam Anh, Director of HOSE Listing Management; Mr. Josh Warland, First Secretary, in charge of Digital Economy and Technology, British Consulate General; Mr. Denzel Eades, Chairman of the British Business Group in Vietnam; and more than 200 leaders and experts in the fields of finance, technology, banking and public policy.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Josh Warland - First Secretary, in charge of Digital Economy and Technology - British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City commented that in the context of technology fundamentally changing business operations, the Vietnamese financial sector needs a methodical digital transformation strategy, accompanied by the support of both the public and private sectors. Digital transformation is not only a trend, but also an inevitable growth driver of the financial sector - a sector that plays a key role in the development of the national digital economy .

This workshop is a continuation of a series of thematic activities organized by ACCA in Vietnam, focusing on three main pillars: data, ethics and human resources - considered the foundation for a transparent, efficient and sustainable digital financial ecosystem.
The highlight of the event was the launch of the Technology Working Group – a collaborative initiative between ACCA and the British Business Association in Vietnam (BritCham). The Technology Working Group in Vietnam (TWG) is a leading platform for technology experts and innovators, dedicated to driving digital transformation and sustainable development in Vietnam. The Technology Working Group is part of the British Business Association BritCham, co-chaired by ACCA Vietnam, and is specifically designed to promote technology collaboration between UK and Vietnamese businesses, fostering shared experiences, standards and innovative solutions.

According to Mr. To Quoc Hung - Director of ACCA Vietnam, Chairman of the UK Technology Business Group in Vietnam, the formation of the working group is not just a formality, but will be a substantial foundation to promote cooperation, training, research and support Vietnamese businesses to accelerate digital transformation. Businesses participating in the group will be connected to a network of experts, benefit from knowledge exchange programs and update the latest technology trends globally.
The human-technology alliance and the ethical role in digital finance
One of the highlights of the event was the speech by Mr. Pulkit Abrol - Director of ACCA Asia - Pacific on the concept of "Smart Alliance". According to him, the combination of people and technology is the key to shaping the future of the finance - accounting industry.

Instead of replacing humans, technologies such as AI, big data, cloud computing and RPA will help financial professionals reposition their roles: from performing technical tasks to strategic functions such as consulting, risk management and decision making. “Technology will be the tool, but humans, with their ethical foundation and analytical capabilities, will be the driving factor,” Mr. Abrol emphasized.
In addition to the international perspective, the workshop also recorded many practical sharings from large enterprises in Vietnam such as banks and financial institutions that are directly implementing digital transformation. Business representatives emphasized that this process not only requires investment in technology, but also requires changes in organizational culture, human resources skills and especially leadership thinking.
From cost reduction, operational efficiency improvement to improved decision-making, the results are clear evidence of the value that digitalization brings. However, experts also warn that digital transformation is not simply about applying new technology, but must go hand in hand with risk management processes, data security and compliance with professional ethics.

The final part of the conference was devoted to an open discussion on the topic “Ethics in the Age of Data and AI”. Experts pointed out that in the digital financial environment, ethical challenges are increasingly complex, from the use of personal data to the transparency of AI algorithms.
ACCA, as the world’s largest and oldest international professional organization with a presence in more than 180 countries, has been proactively issuing ethical guidelines, policy recommendations and developing a framework of professional conduct standards in the digital environment. This is also the foundation to ensure the sustainable development of the finance and accounting industry in the technology era.
