International experts support An Giang province to protect and manage Oc Eo cultural heritage

In recent times, the Oc Eo - Ba The Archaeological Site has received great attention from the Government , with many important policies and investments to protect, preserve and promote the heritage's value.

Oc Eo - Ba The archaeological site is located in the far southwest of Vietnam, in Oc Eo town, Thoai Son district, An Giang province; 40km northeast of Long Xuyen city (An Giang province), 40km southwest of Rach Gia city ( Kien Giang province).

This place has about 40 cultural relics of various types such as religious architectural relics, burial relics, residential relics... that have been discovered, explored and excavated since the early 1940s until now.

The Oc Eo - Ba The archaeological site has a total protected area of ​​433.2 hectares, divided into Area A on the slopes and foot of Ba The mountain (143.9 hectares), Area B in Oc Eo field (289.3 hectares). In Area A, there are a number of typical excavated and preserved relics such as: In the area of ​​Linh Son Pagoda, Nam Linh Son Tu, Linh Son Bac, Go Cay Me (Go Sau Thuan), Go Ut Tranh, Go Sau Thang. Area B has the relics of Go Cay Thi, Go Oc Eo, Go Giong Cat.

According to the Oc Eo Cultural Relics Management Board, the Oc Eo - Ba The Archaeological Site is a complex of archaeological relics, containing material cultural remains of an ancient urban area and religious center of the ancient Kingdom of Phu Nam.

Research achievements of domestic and international scientists on Oc Eo - Ba The over the past several decades show that, during the period of Phu Nam - this area had developed brilliantly, was an important center of trade and international exchange at sea, connecting trade and cultural exchange with many other ancient countries.
