Stories about delicious restaurants in Saigon that give diners a "headache" because... not everyone can eat there.

Báo Tổ quốcBáo Tổ quốc24/06/2024

There are many delicious restaurants in Saigon, but there is also no shortage of quality restaurants that customers want to eat at... but it is not easy. Some restaurants have bad business hours, some close at the drop of a hat, or some restaurants require reservations in advance.

1.

The shops are now... in dire straits, selling out after just a few hours of opening.

If you think that restaurants usually open for lunch, dinner, and supper, or that snack bars open in the afternoon, for example, you are wrong, because in Saigon, many restaurants choose opening hours that are quite... confusing, and customers who want to eat don't know how to arrange their schedule.

Aunt Mui's wonton shop opens in the afternoon and sells out in just a few hours.

Among the shops with "weird" opening hours, we cannot fail to mention Aunt Mui's famous dried shrimp leaf wonton shop in District 11. Aunt Mui's wonton shop is located next to an alley on Lanh Binh Thang Street. It is open on the hot street, but the opening hours here are... 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., which is also a time when the weather is quite sunny. And the afternoon time is not dinner time or lunch time, so many people who want to try it don't know when to go. Not to mention, Aunt Mui's shop is also closed on the 15th and 1st of the lunar month, and on holidays.

Hot and attractive wonton leaf dish.

The food at Aunt Mui's restaurant is a hot soup dish. A bowl of wonton leaves is filled with dried shrimp, and a lot of hot pepper. It's delicious, but it's also true that it makes you sweat while eating. So maybe this is a dish for those who... don't mind the heat. However, Aunt Mui's restaurant is always crowded and sells out in a few hours.

Or the Bun Bo Hue restaurant on Hoang Sa Street in District 3 is the same. If you pass by here around 5pm, you will see a lot of people eating Bun Bo. You may wonder why people eat Bun Bo in the afternoon because this restaurant opens from 5pm to around 7pm. So if you want to have dinner here, you definitely have to go early, because if you come late, there will be nothing left to eat.

A full bowl of beef noodle soup with a bowl of chili fried pork rinds that customers can eat as much as they want.

But after eating, I realized that this beef noodle shop is quite good. A full bowl costs about 50,000 VND with a lot of toppings such as crab cakes, sausages, brisket, tendons, beef balls, pork legs... Especially here, there is crispy pork fat available in a bowl of satay on the table, customers can take as much as they want.

2.

It's normal for restaurants to close down, even for a month.

Office workers in District 1 are probably addicted to Aunt Truoc's snails on Co Bac Street. The small sidewalk snail restaurant is not only delicious but also has a very reasonable price of only 35,000 VND/plate and is also on Netflix. This snail restaurant is also on the list of restaurants with very odd opening hours, selling from 9am and selling out by around 1pm. Not only that, the restaurant is also closed on weekends and on the 1st and 15th of the lunar month.

Aunt Truoc's snail shop has all kinds of fresh and delicious snails.

However, from the end of May until now, Aunt Truoc's snail shop has been closed for unknown reasons, causing snail lovers to come here and then sadly leave with regret. Some customers even carefully called to ask about the opening date and were informed by the owner of the shop about the reopening date with the words "Remember to come and support me". But on that day, when they arrived, the shop was still... closed for unknown reasons.

Although it was crowded, the snail restaurant suddenly closed for a whole month, leaving many customers unable to eat.

When talking about "playing hard" when selling goods, we cannot help but mention the broken rice shop named "Broken Rice No. 1 Nguyen Trai" located right in the center of District 1. This restaurant is only open for 6 months, then closed for 6 months. The reason is because the owner went abroad to visit her child, so she had to close. In addition to the above break time, Ms. Lan's restaurant is also closed on the 15th day of the month. Many customers do not know this, so they come and go home.

The broken rice restaurant in District 1 will close for a few months every year to go abroad to visit his children.

Association of restaurants that require reservations

Xa Li Rice Pot Restaurant in District 1 is a place that sells Chinese-style hot pot dishes that make anyone who comes to eat exclaim because of the quality of the food here. The restaurant is delicious, but customers who want to eat in advance must make a reservation to be sure of having food. This restaurant is only open at noon and the amount of food each day is limited, so even if you have made a reservation, if you want to order more when you come to eat, it is not certain that there will be food.

Xa Li rice pot restaurant does not have many seats and the food here is limited in quantity each day, so customers need to order before coming.

In return, the food at Xa Li restaurant is highly appreciated. The menu at Xa Li restaurant has about 15 savory dishes to eat with rice. The dishes here are interesting in that they are all stewed, steamed, or braised, not stir-fried, boiled, or fried. Most dishes are stewed for at least 4 hours and the heat is carefully monitored to create a delicious and nutritious flavor. Even the white rice is steamed in small clay pots.

In return, the food at this restaurant is of very high quality with dishes simmered for 4 - 5 hours.

When it comes to delicious roasted pork, many people will definitely mention Tan Nha restaurant in District 5. This restaurant is famous for its whole roasted suckling pig dish with prices up to 1,600,000 VND/pig. Although the price is not cheap, Tan Nha is always crowded thanks to its stable quality. The roasted pork dish here is rated as having crispy skin, low fat pork and delicious dipping sauce. Customers coming here need to order roasted pork about half a day in advance to ensure they can eat this famous dish of the restaurant.

That said, there are many delicious restaurants in Saigon, but there are also many delicious restaurants that customers cannot eat at will. Will you be on the team that goes out to eat at all costs or choose restaurants that are easier to eat at?
