Coach Alexandre Polking is preparing to make his debut for the Hanoi Police Club (CAHN Club), when he and his students enter round 22 of the 2023-2024 V-League with a trip to the Ha Tinh team's field. The match taking place at 6 p.m. on May 30 will open the "reign" of the coach with dual Brazilian and German nationality, who is the 4th coach appointed by CAHN this season.
Coach Polking will debut at CAHN Club in round 22
"I am very happy to be here. I know CAHN Club and have watched the team's recent matches. I am proud to become the head coach and join CAHN Club on a new journey.
I believe in the talent of the players. There are many members of the Vietnamese national team who have faced me in international matches. They are also the current V-League champions. This is an advantage for the coach, when there are talented and hard-working players. I believe that they will help the team become more successful," Coach Polking shared.
Before joining CAHN Club, Coach Polking had a successful 6-year period with Bangkok United Club (Thailand) with 1 Thai FA Championship and 2 runner-up finishes in Thai League. Mr. Polking got involved with Vietnamese football in 2021 when he led Ho Chi Minh City Club. However, the team nicknamed "Red Battleship" only ranked 11th after 12 matches, despite adding many stars, including Vietnamese-American midfielder Lee Nguyen.
After reaching an agreement to part ways with Ho Chi Minh City Club, Coach Polking returned to Thailand, helping the national team win the AFF Cup for two consecutive years (2021, 2022). He left the Thai team at the end of 2023, then took a half-year break before moving to CAHN Club.
Coach Polking wants to build an attractive playing style
According to technical director Tran Tien Dai, the CAHN club's board of directors has targeted coach Polking since last season, because they believe he understands Vietnamese football and has good management methods to build a team. The German coach also emphasized: he will build a methodical and beautiful ball control style of play for CAHN club.
"I believe we have had a special start and can work together towards a long-term goal. I hope to build a style of play according to my philosophy: control the ball, control the game. With the current players, I will build this controlled style of play. I have a clear plan and will try to help CAHN Club achieve the best ranking," said Coach Polking.
The former coach of Ho Chi Minh City concluded: "CAHN Club has many young players with the potential to become national team players. I am the head coach, my job is to lead them to practice to become the best players within their abilities."
