After 20 years competing in the V-League, HAGL Football Club has officially changed its name. For many years, Chairman Duc has faced financial difficulties and has been unable to maintain the ambitions of the team from the mountainous region in the V-League. Chairman Duc hopes that this sponsorship can help the group and the team overcome this difficult period.
Chairman Duc has secured a new sponsor for HAGL.
Chairman Duc said: " With the solid foundation from the new sponsor, the HAGL Academy and Football Club will make strong, professional strides, soon conquering the heights after many years of anticipation, and will strive for the future of Vietnamese football ."
At the end of the 2022 season, HAGL parted ways with a number of players such as Cong Phuong, Xuan Truong, Van Toan, Van Thanh, and Hong Duy.
Of the talented players trained by HAGL - Arsenal JMG, only Tuan Anh and Van Son remain with HAGL. In addition, Chau Ngoc Quang, Dinh Thanh Binh, and Tran Minh Vuong are key players who have decided to stay with the Pleiku-based team.
The arrival of a new sponsor will somewhat help HAGL solve its immediate financial problems. However, for coach Kiatisak's team to return to their image as a championship contender, it will be a very long road.
In the 2023/2024 V-League season, HAGL has only managed 1 point after the first two rounds. They recently replaced their foreign player when center-back Pape Diakite was dropped at the last minute. His replacement is striker Jhon Cley - the V-League's top scorer. The Brazilian player is on loan from Hanoi Police FC.
For now, coach Kiatisak will have to focus on helping HAGL overcome the challenging early stages of the season. Only then can the team from Pleiku consider quality signings during the mid-season transfer window.
