Speaking at the seminar, journalist Nguyen Viet Phu - Chairman of the Vietnam Information Technology Journalists Club said: "The Club organized a seminar with the topic "Turn off 2G waves to bring people to the digital environment". With the goal of letting us listen to the voices of management agencies and telecommunications businesses about the roadmap to turn off 2G waves. In order for people to proactively switch devices and not affect communications when turning off 2G waves, communication activities are very important".
According to Mr. Phu, telecommunications enterprises and management agencies need to proactively promote, guide, and answer questions for people. And today, the ICT Journalists Club begins to accompany the Government and enterprises to promote that story.

It is known that Vietnam has chosen to turn off 2G waves to promote the implementation of the goals in the National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with a vision to 2030, approved by the Prime Minister . In particular, the program aims to popularize 4G/5G mobile networks and smartphones to Vietnamese people.
This is considered a revolution to promote e-Government, digital economy , digital society... quickly and is also an important driving force to help Vietnam develop faster and stronger.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phong Nha, Deputy Director of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), "Up to now, the Ministry has had many solutions and policies to stop the 2G network. The units of the Ministry have proposed since 2016, the time when we licensed 4G technology, with a term until 2024. This is the time when network operators orient and consider re-issuing subscribers, and at the same time converting numbers and technology. In terms of implementation, network operators have plans to stop their 2G and test new technology - 5G".
According to Mr. Nha, a network operator cannot exist with 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies at the same time. This minimizes difficulties for broadcasting devices, which is the correct policy of the Ministry of Information and Communications, supported by businesses and network operators.
"By 2030, the Ministry of Information and Communications' orientation is to start 6G technology. Therefore, 2G technology phones will no longer be used, imported and circulated on the market," Mr. Nha informed.
Turning off 2G is considered a revolution to quickly promote e-Government, digital economy, digital society... and is also an important driving force to help Vietnam develop faster and stronger.
