The ancient costume parade "Viet Phong Hoi Tu" on the afternoon of June 8 in the center of Hue City is part of a series of outstanding activities of the Hue Community Ao Dai Week - Hue Festival 2025, chaired and co-organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City, to honor Vietnamese cultural values through traditional costumes.
The program gathered a large number of traditional costume lovers from all three regions, especially hundreds of young people who together wore diverse and unique traditional costumes of Vietnam and many countries in the world such as Japan, Korea...
The parade started from Nghenh Luong Dinh in front of Hue Citadel, then walked along Le Duan and Tran Hung Dao streets, crossed Truong Tien bridge over the Perfume River and ended at the Hue National University stele square.
As one of the organizing committee members, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam (24 years old) said that the program is a spontaneous cultural event for young people who love traditional costumes from 2022.
"Up until now, people are often familiar with the ao dai, while traditional Vietnamese costumes such as the five-panel shirt are still quite unfamiliar to many people, especially the young.
We hope that through these activities of wearing traditional costumes and parading on the streets, we can contribute to spreading the beauty and cultural values of Vietnamese traditional costumes closer to the community," Thanh Nam shared.

The event not only attracted local people and the traditional costume-loving community, but also surprised and delighted many tourists when they witnessed the vibrant cultural space in the heart of Hue city.
Ms. Pham Thi Hang (48 years old), a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, said she was very excited and impressed to see many young people parading in traditional costumes.
"I was really surprised and delighted to witness the ancient costume parade right in the heart of Hue city. The atmosphere was both vibrant and cultural, making me feel very happy and excited, as if I was living in a traditional festival in everyday life."
Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hue City, said that the program had a scale of more than 1,200 people with the participation of more than 600 young people from 3 regions of the country and more than 60 members of the Vietnamese Village Communal House Club (Hanoi).
Mr. Hai said that "Viet Phong Hoi Tu" is not only a costume show but also a cultural connection journey, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Hanoi - Hue - Saigon twinning (1960-2025), celebrating Hue becoming a centrally-governed city and the locality hosting the National Tourism Year 2025./.
