Specifically, at around 9am the same day, while searching for scrap iron along the Nam Mo River, about 700m downstream from the Ban Ang Hydropower Plant (Tuong Duong Commune, Nghe An Province), a local resident discovered a large metal object lying on the riverbed. The object was shaped like a bomb, about 1.2m long, 30cm in diameter, and estimated to weigh about 380kg.
Authorities are coordinating to verify, block off the scene and develop a handling plan. |
Immediately after the discovery, the people immediately reported it to the local authorities and functional forces. Upon receiving the news, the Defense Command of Area 4 - Tuong Duong quickly dispatched militia to block off the scene, erected warning fences and posted danger signs, not allowing people to approach the area where the suspected bomb was discovered.
It is known that the area where the suspected bomb was found has just experienced a historic flood. The rain and floods changed the flow of the river, eroding many locations along the river, possibly exposing the bomb that had been buried for many years in the middle of the water.
Currently, the authorities are coordinating to verify the incident, assess the level of danger and develop a plan to ensure absolute safety for people in the area.
