At the policy dialogue session “Potentials and challenges of youth in participating in implementing nationally determined contributions (NDCs)”, speakers and 400 youth delegates had a lively discussion.
Mr. Ly Phat Viet Linh, expert of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Program of UNICEF Vietnam shared: "Over the past three months, Vietnam has continuously suffered from many big storms causing heavy damage in many localities, a clear proof of climate change."
Sharing from the perspective of a policy maker, Mr. Tran Do Bao Trung, Deputy Head of Climate Change Adaptation Department, Department of Climate Change, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , said: “To help people, especially vulnerable groups, have more access to the issue of climate change, we have changed our communication strategy through practical actions in life instead of dry concepts such as “net zero emissions”. In addition, the Party and State have had and are having policies to support and connect many projects of youth groups, environmental clubs and young social organizations on climate change with international partners to develop and expand the scale of operations. With their dynamism and ability to master digital media, the young generation of Vietnam will be the pioneering force in spreading action for the climate, contributing to realizing the country's commitment to sustainable development”.

When understood correctly, young people can become “spreading agents”, helping to propagate, guide and create positive influences on those around them”.
