Major, Head Nurse Nguyen Thi Mai Dung takes care of the patient. |
Born and raised in Pho Yen, since childhood, Nguyen Thi Mai Dung dreamed of becoming a nurse when she grew up, taking care of people who were unfortunately sick.
After finishing high school, she applied to join the army and studied Nursing. After graduating, she worked at Regiment 141, Division 3, Military Region 1. In 2003, she worked at the Infectious Diseases Department of Hospital 91 as she wished.
Fully aware of the role and responsibility of a nurse and understanding the pain and fatigue of patients, Ms. Dung always wholeheartedly cares for patients with affection, sharing, and encouraging patients to overcome pain and physical and mental fatigue.
Ms. Dung said: Nurses are the ones who have the most and closest contact with patients, so a dedicated nurse not only follows medical orders: injections, infusions, medication... but also needs to pay meticulous attention, coordinate treatment, care, nutrition, rehabilitation, share each pain, fatigue, comfort, encourage and motivate patients to actively receive treatment.
The specialty requires nurses to have solid professional qualifications, always be careful in their work, be dedicated to patients, and be ready to answer questions so that patients can feel secure and confident in their treatment.
With 20 years of nursing experience, including 12 years as Head Nurse, she has always closely followed the treatment process of patients. Thanks to that, she has been able to provide timely emergency care to patients in bad situations and save their lives many times.
One memory that she remembers the most is the case of Mrs. Dang Thi Ngu, over 70 years old. Mrs. Ngu suffered from heart failure, was old and weak, and had to stay in bed, requiring someone to help her with all her daily activities. Therefore, she was always by her side, and was able to successfully rescue her when her heart failure struck.
After the crisis passed, Mrs. Ngu was shocked and said to her sister: "Oh, so I'm alive?" That seemingly simple sentence touched Ms. Dung and she remembered it forever. She said: Only when people are on that fragile boundary can they see that life is more precious than anything else in the world.
The mission of those wearing the white coat is to try their best to bring life to patients, not missing out on even the slightest ray of hope. With that mindset, Ms. Dung always devotes all her heart to her work. Not only that, patients in difficult circumstances are also helped by her and her colleagues.
In 2021, when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, with the spirit of "fighting the pandemic like fighting the enemy", responding to the Launch Ceremony of the Central Military Commission, she and many colleagues volunteered to go to support the southern provinces.
As Head Nurse and Head of the Hospital Infection Control Department, Ms. Dung has actively participated in scientific research with 3 topics: Evaluation of the care and management of stroke patients at Military Hospital 91; Evaluation of understanding and compliance with treatment of hypertensive patients at Military Hospital 91; Evaluation of awareness and compliance with COVID-19 prevention of patients coming for examination and treatment at Military Hospital 91.
In addition, she also actively participated in Nursing competitions and achieved high results: 3rd prize for excellent and elegant nurses at hospitals in the Army in 2016; First prize in theory and First prize in all-around at the Competition for excellent head nurses at hospitals in the Army in 2019...
For many consecutive years, Ms. Dung has achieved the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level; in 2022, she achieved the title of Emulation Fighter of the whole army; in 2021, she received 2 Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of National Defense and 1 Certificate of Merit from the People's Committee of Dong Nai province; in 2022, she received a Certificate of Merit from the Political Commissar of Military Region 1, a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor...
With the enthusiasm of a soldier, the sense of responsibility of a nurse and the enthusiasm and creativity of a union member, Ms. Dung always excellently completes all assigned tasks, leaving a beautiful image and satisfaction for patients.
