The sand dunes intended for tourism in Quang Phu are being fenced off with… bamboo stakes.

The sand dunes serving tourism in Nam Trach commune (Quang Tri, formerly Nhan Trach commune, Bo Trach district, old Quang Binh) were fenced off by a business with bamboo poles and ropes... making locals and tourists surprised and upset.

On the morning of July 16th, residents of Nam Trach commune (Quang Tri province) reported that the Quang Phu sand dunes, a famous natural tourist spot, had been cordoned off with ropes and bamboo stakes driven into the sand, causing a loss of aesthetic appeal and affecting the tourist experience.

According to observations at the scene, a fence made of bamboo stakes has been erected along the sand dunes, and a bulldozer is leveling the ground nearby. Mr. Pham Ngoc Long, a local resident, said that the stake driving started on the afternoon of July 15th and continued until the following morning. Many tourists have also expressed dissatisfaction with this situation.

Regarding the incident, Gosimco Management Capital Co., Ltd. confirmed that it is implementing a temporary sandboarding experience project in the aforementioned area. The company stated that on July 15th, the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, along with other relevant agencies, handed over the land, identified boundary markers, and defined the land boundaries for the company to implement the tourism project, covering a total area of ​​48,000 m².

According to Mr. Ho Xuan Ninh (Director of the company), the purpose of fencing with bamboo stakes is to define the boundaries of the allocated land, prevent encroachment from outside, and facilitate project management. He affirmed that this method is "in accordance with regulations."

However, the local authorities did not entirely agree. Mr. Doan Ngoc Nhan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Trach commune, said that officials and police had been sent to the scene to assess the situation. Mr. Nhan emphasized that the People's Committee of the commune did not agree with the current method of erecting bamboo fences and had advised the business to coordinate with local service businesses to ensure efficiency and harmony in tourism development.

Quang Phu sand dunes have been an attractive local destination recently.
