On the morning of December 10th, the 8th term of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Council opened its 5th session (the last regular session of 2025).
Speaking at the session, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, emphasized that 2025 is a special milestone in the development process of Quang Tri province, marking an important shift in administrative organization and the two-tiered local government model. In this context, Quang Tri has focused on decisively, synchronously, and effectively leading, directing, and managing key tasks, thereby achieving many important results.
In particular, the province's socio -economic development continued to be outstanding and comprehensive. All 17 key targets were met or exceeded compared to the plan: GRDP reached 8%; GRDP per capita reached 79.1 million VND (compared to the planned 79.1 million VND); state budget revenue exceeded 13,300 billion VND, an increase of nearly 15% compared to the same period; total retail sales increased by 12.5%; tourism experienced strong growth, welcoming 9.6 million visitors, an increase of nearly 17%; 7 FDI projects were attracted with a total registered capital of over 622 million USD, nearly six times higher than in 2024; and investment approvals were granted for 172 domestic projects with a total investment of over 113,400 billion VND.
Efforts to remove obstacles, improve the investment environment, and create favorable conditions for investors have contributed to accelerating the progress of many key infrastructure projects. Simultaneously, the fields of culture, education , health, social welfare, environment, urban development, national defense and security, and foreign affairs continue to be strengthened, creating harmonious and stable development.
In particular, science and technology, innovation, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, green transformation, and renewable energy have made strong progress, opening up new opportunities and impetus for the province's rapid and sustainable growth in the coming period.
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Phuong requested the Provincial People's Council to promptly concretize the Action Program and the Work Program for the entire term of the Provincial Party Committee to implement the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030. He also requested the timely issuance of mechanisms, policies, plans, projects, and monitoring programs with specific goals, roadmaps, and solutions to ensure double-digit growth targets starting from 2026.
At the same time, continue to innovate the methods of leadership and direction of the Provincial People's Council's activities in the context of operating a two-tiered local government; coordinate with the Provincial People's Committee to strengthen support and guidance for the commune-level government apparatus in implementing tasks after reorganization, ensuring smooth, effective, and efficient operation in accordance with its functions and duties.
At this session, the Provincial Party Secretary requested that delegates thoroughly discuss and approve important resolutions that are highly feasible, meet practical requirements, and create a solid foundation for Quang Tri province to enter 2026 with new momentum, a new vision, and new development impetus, creating a strong transformation and rising to become a new growth pole of the North Central region.
The 5th session of the 8th term of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Council took place over two days (December 10th and 11th), aiming to consider, discuss, and decide on many important issues regarding the assessment of socio-economic development and national defense and security results for 2025 and the 2021-2025 period; determining goals and tasks for 2026 and development orientations for the 2026-2030 period; and approving mechanisms and policies to create a foundation for Quang Tri province to develop faster and more sustainably in the new period.
