The road of white flowers

( Quang Ngai Newspaper) - March. Drizzle was falling. The street was covered in a damp fog. On a weekend afternoon, I took my motorbike out of the house to wander around. As I passed a small street, something seemed to hold me back and made me stop. A sweet scent gently touched my nostrils. I looked around and was filled with excitement when I saw the white-flowered Su trees blooming on both sides of the road.

I have known about the Sua flower since I went to the city to study at university, because in my hometown no one grows this tree. I was impressed from the beginning by its name. Sua! Just one syllable, but when read aloud, it makes people feel something vague and dreamy. Some people who do not know or have not heard of this tree confuse it with the Milk Flower tree. Just because the two names are different by only one tilde.

It is March that the Sua flowers bloom. In addition to the name white Sua flowers, they are also called rotten trac, yellow wood flower, northern Sua, royal flower, royal flower... Sua flowers grow from the leaf axils, and have buds before the leaves have fully grown. They grow in clusters. Each cluster is made up of tiny five-petaled flowers like baby buttons. Sua flowers have the beauty of pure white. When the wind blows, thousands of Sua flowers fall, creating a sparkling Sua flower rain that flutters in the wind, making everyone feel excited. Many people stand for hours under the Sua rows just to admire the fragile, simple beauty of this small flower.

The Sua flower has a sweet fragrance. It takes a very delicate mind to recognize this wonderful fragrance. That was the moment I realized that the hair of the girl I loved was full of small Sua flowers. When I gently ran my hand through her soft locks and rested my head on her shoulder, I thought my memory had forgotten the scent of the trees on the street, but no, the scent was present before my sense of smell, the sweet and profound scent of Sua flowers! She and I giggled when we realized this simple and interesting thing.

I call the season of Sua flowers the season of peace! The bustling and noisy life of the city sometimes makes us tired. And to find my true self and peace of mind, I often stand under the Sua tree. Strangely, when I look at the pure white color of Sua flowers, I feel a strange sense of lightness, elation and love for life. My friend said that because they have a special ability, not only to purify the air, but also like a tree with a soul that nurtures, caresses and protects.

In the March days of my youth, the Su flowers were in full bloom, I broke up with my first budding love. She went to a new land with new aspirations. I was like a lost soul, going back and forth on the road with the Su flowers in full bloom. The scent was still there but the memories were old. I sent her a picture full of Su flowers as a farewell. When I was about to leave to go home, a sudden wind blew, a rain of Su flowers fell. A few flowers fell on my palm. It seemed like the Su flowers wanted to tell me something. I also wanted to confess. The sadness was heavy, immense...

March is in full swing. Su flowers are blooming. I hide my old memories and find new ones for myself. Su flowers on both sides of the road are still blooming. The fragrance is still sweet. I gently pick a su flower in my hand and whisper. I am no longer sad like in my youth. Suddenly, I feel my heart is light and want to be a su flower petal spinning between the sky and earth...
