Throughout her life devoted to the village and commune, now at the age of seventy, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Vo (98 years old), a 75-year-old Party member in Thach Linh ward ( Ha Tinh city) still obeys Uncle Ho's teachings: "As long as we live, we must continue to study and participate in revolutionary activities."
Throughout her life devoted to village and commune affairs, now at the age of seventy, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Vo (98 years old), a 75-year-old Party member in Thach Linh ward (Ha Tinh city) still obeys Uncle Ho's teachings: "As long as we live, we must continue to study and participate in revolutionary activities."
By chance, when we arrived, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Vo - a veteran female party member, the first female chairwoman of Thach Linh commune, Thach Ha district (now Thach Linh ward, Ha Tinh city) was sitting reading Ha Tinh Newspaper. At the age of 98, without wearing glasses, she could still clearly see every word on the printed newspaper; while reading, she pondered, every now and then she nodded her head in admiration when she came across interesting content...
Afraid of disturbing him while he was concentrating, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu - an official of Thach Linh ward whispered to me: "Although he is nearly 100 years old, he still follows the current and political situation in the province and the country; still regularly participates in Party cell activities and contributes many positive ideas to the residential group. He is an admirable example that young Party members like us must learn from and follow."

Grandma Vo always reminds and advises her children and grandchildren to continuously study, work and contribute as Uncle Ho taught.
When she was just over 20 years old (from 1946 to 1954), Ms. Vo was a village women's association cadre, deputy hamlet leader, then hamlet leader of Kieu hamlet, Gieng Ngoai hamlet in Linh Dai commune, Thach Ha (now called deputy group leader, head of Linh Tan residential group, Thach Linh ward). She also worked as a postman (a person who delivers papers and documents from the commune to the hamlets); Member of the Women's Committee of Linh Dai commune. Also during this period, recognizing a typical young woman, an association cadre, who was active in activities, in June 1950, Ms. Nguyen Thi Vo was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam by the Linh Dai commune Party Cell at the age of 25.
Becoming a party member during the difficult days of the revolution, Mr. Vo continued to enthusiastically carry out the tasks assigned by the organization and completed each task well. Mr. Vo recalled: “At that time, the Party was in the days of secret activities and being admitted to the Party was not easy. Therefore, the pride and honor of becoming a party member became a great motivation for me to constantly contribute to the organization.”
In 1954, when Linh Dai commune was divided into 3 communes (Thach Xuan, Thach Dai, Thach Linh), Mr. Vo was trusted and assigned by the organization to be a Party Committee member and Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Linh - Thach Ha commune (now Thach Linh ward - Ha Tinh city). He became the first Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Linh commune.
Ms. Vo shared: “As the commune chairman in the early days, there were many difficulties and confusions. As a woman, I had to try 5 or 10 times harder than other people. This was also the most difficult and arduous period when my husband joined the army to fight against the French (1954 - 1957), I had to both shoulder the burden of raising children and participate in activities. At that time, every day I went to people's houses to encourage them to enthusiastically compete in labor production. Only competing in labor production can help change lives and is also a solid foundation for the rear to support the frontline of the resistance war.”
Enthusiastic and passionate in participating in activities, Ms. Vo received many certificates of merit and medals awarded by the Party, State and associations.
After 2 years of dedication as the head of the government in Thach Linh, in 1956, due to changes in the apparatus to suit historical conditions, Mr. Vo resigned from the position of Chairman of the Commune People's Committee. In the following years, from 1957 to 1974, Mr. Vo continued to participate in the work of the Women's Union; accountant of Linh Tan Agricultural Cooperative; head of the agricultural production team... From 1974 to present, Mr. Vo retired and participated in activities at the Party Cell, the Elderly Association, and the Women's Association of Linh Tan residential group.
Mr. Vo participates in party cell activities.
Despite his old age and poor health, he is still active and enthusiastic in contributing ideas, participating in activities and movements of organizations and unions; actively taking the lead in supporting local funds.
During the days when the neighborhood association launched an environmental sanitation campaign, despite his old age, his children and grandchildren advised him to rest, but Mr. Vo dismissed it: “Uncle Ho once advised: “As long as you are alive, you must continue to study and participate in revolutionary activities”. As a party member, as long as I am still alert and lucid, I still study books and newspapers, and still work with organizations. When I am weak, I do small things to encourage and set an example for my children and grandchildren to follow.”
Despite her advanced age, Ms. Vo still enthusiastically participates in local activities. This is also her way of encouraging and setting an example for her children and grandchildren to participate as well.
Mr. Hoang Ngoc Quan - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Thach Linh Ward said: “We are the next generation who always remember the merits and contributions of the previous generation of revolutionary veterans. As for Mr. Vo, although his time as the head of the government was not long, he made great contributions in promoting the strength of people's solidarity and emulation in labor production. He was also an active person in movement and mass organization activities, contributing to laying the initial foundation to build Thach Linh Ward as it is today. Mr. Vo's example as a loyal and exemplary Party member is a valuable asset of the local Party Committee".
"As long as we live, we must continue to study and participate in revolutionary activities"; "A living example is worth more than a hundred propaganda speeches" - Uncle Ho's advice has become the motto of Mr. Vo. Having devoted his entire life to revolutionary and mass activities, even at an old age, Mr. Vo still promoted his qualities and set a shining example of a veteran party member.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Vo (far left) was awarded the 75-year Party membership badge by Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran The Dung and Secretary of the City Party Committee Duong Tat Thang on September 2.
The Party badges and Party membership cards are kept with great respect by Mr. Vo.
Throughout her life of dedication, she was awarded the title "Three-capable woman" by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union in 1976; the Council of Ministers of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam awarded the Second-class Anti-American Resistance Medal in 1987; the President awarded the Second-class Anti-American Resistance Medal in 2006; the 75-year Party badge... Not only that, the greatest pride for Mrs. Vo is her extended family with filial children and grandchildren, many of whom follow in their mother and grandmother's footsteps and become exemplary party members.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nghia (64 years old, nearly 40 years of Party membership) - Mr. Vo's son shared: "My parents love their children but are also very strict in raising them. My grandparents always teach their children to live with heart, virtue, and be exemplary in the family and in society. Also from the image of their mother, being raised and nurtured by her ideals, all the children in the family strive to contribute useful things to the community, society and strive to become Party members."
Mrs. Vo's family has 12 daughters-in-law, 16 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to the two elders who are veteran party members, the extended family currently has 11 children and grandchildren who are party members. Some of her children are retired military officers, some are local officials, workers... each has a position and role, but all are actively contributing to the development of the locality.

With more than 26 years of participation in mass and social work, including 13 consecutive years as deputy secretary of the Party cell and head of the residential group, Mr. Nguyen Van Luc (born in 1970) - the second son of Mr. Vo has made many contributions that have been recognized by the people. Although the residential group is located in the project planning area, facing many difficulties, under the leadership and contribution of Mr. Luc, Linh Tan residential group has always maintained movements, maintained and promoted the cultural residential area; mobilized resources to build rural roads, and renovated the campus of the meeting hall...

In addition, the eldest son (retired military officer); Mrs. Vo's daughters, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren are also exemplary citizens and party members in their place of residence.
Mr. Pham Quoc Cuong (born in 1998) - the grandson of Mrs. Vo, currently working at the Ha Tinh Provincial Police, the youngest party member in the large family of party members proudly said: "I am happy to be born, raised and nurtured in the cradle of a revolutionary family. That makes me constantly strive and try in every action and work to continue the family tradition, to be worthy of the teachings of my grandparents".
Following the example of Mr. Vo, his children and grandchildren are all exemplary citizens and party members.
At the age of 98, besides the joy of spending time with her children and grandchildren, Mrs. Vo still regularly studies books and newspapers; grows vegetables, cleans... For her, as long as she is healthy, she can continue working.
Having the good fortune to meet and talk with a female Party member with 75 years of Party membership, and to learn more about the tradition of the extended family of Party members, we felt as if we had been given more precious affection and firm belief in the Party. Party members like Mrs. Vo are truly a valuable asset of the Party organization, a spiritual support for the younger generation to follow and strive for.
