"I - Noa Argamani, was in the same detention facility as Itai Svirsky and Yossi Sharabi, in the building with the Al Qassam Brigades gunmen," Argamini said in a two-minute, 33-second video released by Hamas on January 15.
Hamas also released a video a day earlier, of unknown date, showing Argamani, Sharabi and Svirsky alive. This was the first time they had appeared since their abduction in October 2023. In the video, the three men called on Israeli authorities to do everything possible to free them.
Hamas also warned that the fate of the hostages would be revealed on January 15. However, the announcement of the fate of his cellmate was left to Argamani.
"An IDF F16 bombed the building," Argamani said, referring to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the building where she and two other hostages were being held. "Three rockets were fired. Two exploded. The third failed."
Argamani said all the hostages were buried under the rubble after the airstrike, with Yossi not making it, while she and Itai were taken out by Al Qassam members.
"After several days and two nights, Itai and I were transferred to another location. While we were moving, Itai was hit by an IDF airstrike. He did not survive," Argamani said.
However, he admitted that the IDF had bombed the area where the hostages were being held and could have put their lives in danger.
"We don't know their exact location. We don't bomb where we know the hostages are," he said. "We only hit targets close to where they are being held."
Several hostages released by Hamas in November 2023 have accused the IDF of carrying out airstrikes near where they were held. The Israeli Defense Ministry has accused Hamas of attempting to “psychologically manipulate” them with propaganda videos.
