With only a few days left until Da Nang enters its peak tourist season, the area along the Han River is heating up in anticipation of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026.
Faced with significant pressure regarding personnel, vehicles, and potential risks during the festival season, the Da Nang City Police proactively implemented a comprehensive set of measures to ensure security and order, maintaining peace in the city on the Han River ahead of the international event.

On central routes, along the east and west banks of the Han River, in the viewing areas, fireworks display points, tourist boat docks, and major gateway traffic arteries, the Da Nang City Police force, in coordination with various functional units, simultaneously deployed plans to protect, manage traffic flow, and control security and order.
A festival season of international scale, dazzling with lights, is also a silent but intense effort by the city's authorities to "maintain peace and order" during these days.

DIFF 2026 will open on May 30th and last until mid-July, with the participation of many international fireworks teams. It is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of domestic and international tourists to Da Nang for sightseeing, accommodation, and enjoyment. Given its large scale, extended duration, and high concentration of people in the central area, the pressure on ensuring security, safety, traffic management, and service control is immense.
In this context, the Da Nang City Police Department has identified its main task as ensuring absolute security and safety for the festival; preventing any unexpected or unforeseen situations; and maintaining the image of a safe, civilized, and friendly tourist city.
Just before the start of DIFF 2026, the Da Nang City Police organized a conference to disseminate and implement security and order assurance measures, with the participation of representatives from professional units under the Ministry of Public Security , the City Military Command, the Border Guard, departments, agencies, and event organizers.
Major General Nguyen Huu Hop, Director of the Da Nang City Police, emphasized that DIFF 2026 is a large-scale political, cultural, and tourism event for the city, attracting a large number of people and domestic and international tourists. Therefore, he requested that police units and localities focus on implementing comprehensive and decisive plans to ensure absolute security and safety throughout the festival.

Accordingly, the Deputy Directors of the City Police Department directly in charge of the Subcommittees must strengthen their leadership and comprehensively oversee the situation, areas, and localities; promptly inspect and supervise the implementation of security and order assurance plans according to the set schedule.
It should also be noted that the Heads of the Subcommittees for ensuring security and order in the East and West banks of the Han River must select advisory personnel with practical experience in ensuring security and order in previous DIFF events to participate in developing plans, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the entire area and preventing any passive or unexpected situations.
As a result, the city's police force has been deployed to increase patrols and controls in key areas such as the fireworks viewing area, the stage, the Han River waterfront, entertainment venues, popular accommodation areas, and high-traffic routes.
The security challenge lies not only in protecting the fireworks display area but also in preventing criminals from exploiting the crowds. Street crimes such as theft, pickpocketing, robbery, and public disorder are always under special control.
The Da Nang City Police Department's stance is to prevent any violations from affecting the safety of residents and tourists. In a tourist city like Da Nang, which is welcoming a large number of visitors, ensuring security and order is not simply a task of maintaining order, but also about preserving trust and the image of the destination. At the same time, all officers participating in duties at DIFF 2026 must strictly adhere to regulations, posture, etiquette, and conduct; maintaining a positive image of the Da Nang City Police force in the eyes of the people and tourists, affirmed Major General Nguyen Huu Hop.

One of the biggest challenges of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) is traffic. The fireworks nights always draw tens of thousands of people to the city center, especially along both banks of the Han River. The Da Nang Department of Construction, in coordination with the city police, has implemented a large-scale traffic management plan for the fireworks displays from May 30th to July 11th. Many key roads such as Bach Dang, Le Duan, Tran Hung Dao, Pham Van Dong, the area around the Han River Bridge, Dragon Bridge, Thuan Phuoc Bridge, and many central intersections have been closed to traffic, parking is prohibited, or traffic flow is adjusted according to specific time slots.
Behind the prohibition signs and traffic control checkpoints lies a dual objective: ensuring absolute safety for the performance area and reducing traffic congestion in the city center. Not only on land, but waterway control on the Han River is also being tightened.
The Water Police of Da Nang City Police Department coordinated with other functional forces to inspect the operation of tourist boats and mooring areas, and deployed forces to set up checkpoints to prevent fishing boats or other unqualified watercraft from entering the water area where fireworks displays were taking place.
Lessons learned from waterway safety incidents and fire hazards during large gatherings have led to a more multi-layered security plan this year. Fireboats, rescue vessels, rescue teams, and medical personnel, in coordination with the 115 Emergency Center, are stationed on standby on the river. In addition, strict inspections of tourist boats are being conducted to prevent overloading or the lack of safety equipment for visitors watching the fireworks display.

If public security and traffic control are the tangible layers of protection, then controlling service prices is a "soft front" that is no less important. During the festival season, a series of accommodation establishments, restaurants, food services, passenger transport, parking lots, and tourism services are subject to inspection. City authorities also focus on reviewing price declarations, public price listings, tax obligations, legal documents, and service quality. The message is clear: no arbitrary price increases, price gouging, speculation, or overcharging of tourists.
According to the plan, inspections will be carried out in phases, closely following the schedule of fireworks displays, lasting from the end of May to mid-July 2026. This is considered the peak period when the number of visitors to the city increases sharply, leading to significant pressure on tourism infrastructure and services.
Alongside inspections, authorities require businesses to improve their compliance with legal regulations, ensure transparency in service pricing, and encourage providers of quality services at reasonable prices to create a healthy competitive environment, contributing to maintaining Da Nang's friendly and professional tourism image.
For violations such as arbitrary price increases, failure to display prices, charging fees illegally, or providing poor-quality services, authorities will strictly handle them according to the law. Information about violations will also be made public so that residents and tourists can proactively understand and avoid them, thereby tightening discipline in tourism and service activities during the festival season.
