Today (September 28), the Ho Chi Minh City Police announced the results of investigations and discoveries of drug-related cases during the first nine months of the year.
Accordingly, from the beginning of the year until now, the city's police force has detected and investigated 2,430 cases and arrested 6,137 individuals for violating drug laws. This number represents an increase of 754 cases, equivalent to 44.99%, compared to the same period last year.
As a result, the police seized over 980kg of various types of drugs, along with numerous guns, ammunition, and related tools and equipment.
The investigative agencies at two levels under the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department have initiated legal proceedings in 2,076 cases involving 4,023 defendants.

Some typical cases include, in mid-July, the Drug Crime Investigation Department, in coordination with the Cu Chi District Police and the Drug Crime Investigation Department ( Ministry of Public Security ), dismantled and arrested an entire network involved in the illegal transportation and sale of narcotics from Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City. Authorities prosecuted six defendants and seized 15.5 kg of various types of synthetic drugs and one military firearm.

For example, following the incident involving the use of firearms to disrupt public order in District 6 on August 30th, just five days after receiving the information, the local police expanded their investigation, dismantled a drug trafficking ring, and prosecuted 11 defendants for the crimes of "Disrupting public order," "Illegal possession and use of military weapons," and "Illegal trafficking and possession of narcotics."
The police seized 6 blocks of heroin, over 15kg of various types of synthetic drugs, and 11 military firearms.

Recently, in early September, the Tan Phu District Police, along with the Drug Crime Investigation Department (Ho Chi Minh City Police), the Drug Crime Investigation Bureau (Ministry of Public Security), and other relevant units and localities, arrested a group of individuals involved in the illegal transportation, storage, and sale of narcotics. In this case, authorities seized over 19 kg of various types of synthetic drugs and 40 packets of "happy water" (a type of ecstasy).

In mid-September, the District 8 Police, in coordination with other units, successfully uncovered a drug trafficking ring that transported and sold narcotics illegally from Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City and other locations for distribution. The seized evidence included 20kg of methamphetamine, 10kg of ketamine, and 42 blocks of heroin. Fourteen suspects were arrested.
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City police are simultaneously expanding investigations into multiple large-scale drug trafficking rings and pursuing related individuals for prosecution.
