Despite the hard work, engineer Hoang Anh Tuan always had a smile on his face.
Young combat engineer Nguyen Minh Hieu, from Tam Ky, Quang Nam province, said that constructing buildings on the island was a huge challenge for the brigade's soldiers. The stormy weather made transporting materials to the island extremely difficult; the engineers had to carry heavy loads of sand, cement, and steel up the high hills. "During construction, the project leaders had many innovative ideas and applied them effectively, such as a conveyor belt to transfer concrete from the Hon Chuoi pier to the Border Guard Post area, and from there, transporting it to higher ground was easier, increasing labor productivity," he shared.
Company 1 (Battalion 885, 83rd Engineering Brigade, Navy) worked day and night constructing facilities on the island.
Despite the hardships, engineers Vo Van Phuc, Nguyen Minh Hieu, and Nguyen Tai were very happy to contribute their efforts to the peace and security of the islands.
The engineers constructing the project on Hon Chuoi Island demonstrated the highest level of awareness, responsibility, and determination, achieving the best possible results in their political mission. As engineer Vo Van Phuc, from Da Nang, confided: "Although working on a remote island is difficult and challenging, I always maintained strict discipline and followed the commander's instructions to ensure the project progressed on schedule and the assigned task was completed."
