ANTD.VN - The 2023 Corporate Culture Maturity Measurement Report, published by Blue C on December 12, was based on survey results of 195 businesses from 13 different industry groups.
This is the third consecutive year that Blue C has conducted a market survey to provide assessments of the current state of corporate culture (CLC) in 2023 and predict prominent trends of CLC in Vietnam in 2024.
The survey uses the CCMM (Corporate Culture Maturity Measurement) toolkit, allowing businesses to self-determine their cultural maturity level and clearly identify factors that need improvement; thereby providing a basis for proposing measures to develop corporate culture in the future.
Investment in culture to decline in 2023
The survey results show that the level of cultural maturity of enterprises in 2023 decreased from level 4 to level 3 (on a 6-level scale) with an average score of only 40.14 points, a decrease of 4.26 points compared to 2022. All 14/14 elements of corporate culture decreased in score, the largest decrease was in the Measurement and Budget criteria, marking a challenging year for corporate culture.
Specifically, for the Measurement criterion, up to 73.84% of businesses have not measured corporate culture or have measured it but only integrated it into other survey and listening programs.
Regarding the Budget, the survey results show that only 36.41% of enterprises have enough budget to implement corporate culture activities. The rate of enterprises having difficulty requesting budget for corporate culture increased by 5.3% compared to 2022.
More than 33% of businesses have a cultural maturity level of 3. |
Regarding the difficulties in building culture, the answer from the majority of businesses is that not mastering the method and lacking implementation skills are causing major obstacles to building and developing culture.
Nearly half of the businesses (49.22%) participating in the survey said that the difficulties in building their culture stemmed from: lack of implementation methods and skills; inability to measure effectiveness; and thin implementation human resources.
This is not difficult to explain, when the overall priority level for VHDN training has decreased compared to last year; especially awareness and skills training programs for managers and specialized teams have decreased from 28.20% to 19.48%.
Three key priorities for corporate culture in 2024
After a turbulent 2023, nearly half of the businesses participating in the survey are looking forward to 2024 with the task of reshaping the corporate culture platform for a new development strategy (49.22%).
Enhancing employee experience, Creating an innovative and creative environment, and Building a learning organization will be the three main trends leading corporate culture in 2024.
Priority goals in corporate culture development in 2024 |
Assessing the outstanding trends of corporate culture in 2024, Mr. Le Quang Vu - CEO of Blue C said that culture is like the wind, although invisible, it has a huge impact.
“The more volatile the market context, the more stable the culture must be. Turning inward to increase engagement through employee experience; promoting a new learning spirit to increase internal strength; and building an innovative and creative environment to encourage new things are the right directions in developing corporate culture suitable for the volatile market context and requiring high flexibility and adaptability.
However, changing culture, especially for organizations seeking innovation and creativity, is always the most challenging part of the transformation process. Because it requires establishing new behaviors, completely different from what is currently in place, from leaders to employees. Businesses need to be mentally prepared and have a clear strategy to overcome these challenges," said Mr. Vu.
