YouTube upgrades with a host of new tools

YouTube is introducing a slew of new tools to its Studio, its creator management platform. The highlight is a “likeness” detection feature that helps users detect and request removal of videos that use their faces without permission. There’s also an inspiration tab, A/B title testing, automated voiceovers, and an AI-powered Ask Studio feature to assist users.

YouTube Live adds minigames to engage with audiences, horizontal and vertical parallel streaming, AI-powered highlights, live event reactions, and a new “side-by-side” ad format that appears alongside main content instead of interrupting it.

YouTube integrates Veo 3 Fast – a customized version of Google's text-to-video AI model – into Shorts. Creators can add motion to photos, change the style of their videos, or insert objects with text prompts. They can also turn their dialogue into engaging background music with the Lyria 2 AI music model.

YouTube Music adds countdowns for new releases and “thank you” videos for fans. A US pilot lets listeners buy exclusive merchandise from artists. For podcasts, AI will help create clips and convert audio podcasts into videos.

YouTube is expanding monetization opportunities through brand partnerships and YouTube Shopping. AI tools will automatically tag products, determine optimal times to show, and recommend creators to brands. Shorts can also link directly to brand websites.

America uses robots to befriend child patients

Robin is a therapy robot programmed to look like a 7-year-old girl, currently operating in more than 30 medical facilities in the US. With the ability to converse, remember names and preferences of patients, Robin provides emotional support to children and the elderly, especially in the context of medical staff shortages.

Robots can play music, respond to emotions, and help patients through medical procedures by simulating them as a companion.

Developed by Expper Technologies, Robin is gradually learning to become more autonomous, with the future goal of assisting with vital signs and elderly care. Robin is not replacing healthcare workers, but filling the care gap – bringing joy, companionship and emotional connection in the hospital environment.
