Aluminum Industry Platform
Aluminum production - aluminum smelting in the period 2021-2023 continues to play a leading role in Dak Nong 's industrial sector. This sector contributes significantly to promoting the province's economic and social development.
Over the years, Nhan Co Alumina Factory has always maintained stable production activities, contributing greatly to the growth of Dak Nong industrial zone.
The factory accounts for nearly 40% of the province's industrial production value, becoming a key unit in contributing to the local budget, with 350-400 billion VND/year.
Accumulated from the beginning of the term to the first quarter of 2023, the total aluminum output has been 1.6 million tons. Of which, the output of the years 2021-2022 exceeded the target compared to the set 5-year plan .
The Nhan Co Alumina Project is considered a step to create a foundation for the Dak Nong bauxite-alumina industry. It also stimulates the development of other supporting industries such as: production of construction materials, chemicals, construction, transportation, mechanical engineering, equipment, etc.
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said that Dak Nong needs to focus on coordinating with relevant ministries and branches to promote the bauxite - alumina - aluminum mining complex project in accordance with the spirit of Conclusion No. 31-KL/TW, dated March 7, 2022 of the Politburo.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed: "This is an opportunity for Dak Nong to promote the development of the industrial sector, especially the materials industry."
For the Dak Nong Aluminum Electrolysis Plant Project, the investor has received a commitment from MB Bank to provide sufficient capital to continue implementation.
The investor has signed a contract with a foreign EPC General Contractor to carry out the bidding packages to supply and install the entire equipment system for the Factory.
The unified project will be completed in the second quarter of 2024. Phase 1 of the plant will be put into operation with a capacity of 150,000 tons/year. In the second quarter of 2026, the plant will reach its design capacity of 450,000 tons/year.
The investment in building the Aluminum Electrolysis Plant in Dak Nong affirms the viewpoint in mineral exploitation and processing of deep processing, increasing the value of minerals, not selling raw products.
Renewable Energy Expectations
Renewable energy development is the second spearhead that Dak Nong Industry has high expectations for. Renewable energy sources are currently being reviewed by the industries, proposing to integrate power source and grid projects into Dak Nong Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
Dak Nong has proposed the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Prime Minister to update renewable energy projects in the Power Plan VIII, as a basis for calling for investment and exploiting the province's potential.
Up to now, in the province, there are 2 solar power plant projects in operation, with a total capacity of 106.4MWp; 1 wind power plant has been put into commercial operation. The remaining power projects are being invested in and constructed, negotiating electricity generation prices according to current regulations.
In the province, there are 6 wind power projects, with a total capacity of 430 MW, which have been approved by the Prime Minister to be added to the planning, including: Dak Hoa Wind Power Project (50 MW); Nam Binh 1 Wind Power Project (30 MW); Dak N'Drung 1 Wind Power Project (100 MW), Dak N'Drung 2 (100 MW), Dak N'Drung 3 (100 MW); Asia Dak Song 1 Wind Power Project (50 MW).
Dak Nong currently has 5 grid-connected solar power projects that have been added to the Power Development Plan, including: Duc An Solar Power Plant Project (30 MW), Xuyen Ha Solar Power Project (130 MWp), Cu K'nia Solar Power Project (180 MWp), Ea T'ling Solar Power Project (95 MWp), KN Buôn Tua Srah Solar Power Project (390 MWp).
In general, investment in developing renewable energy projects is consistent with the national energy development strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045. The projects contribute to economic and social development, job creation and increased local budget revenue.
Prioritize breakthroughs
In the period of 2021 - 2025, Dak Nong strives to increase the industrial production index by an average of 16%/year. In which, 4 internal sectors strive to have strong growth.
Specifically, the mining industry increased by 3.03%; the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 31.04%; the electricity, gas, hot water and steam production and distribution industry increased by 24.93%; the water supply industry, waste and wastewater management and treatment activities increased by 5%.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Ut, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that in order for the industry sector to develop and maintain its leading position in the three economic pillars of the province, the industry and trade sector will continue to advise on the development and completion of appropriate mechanisms and policies.
In particular, the Industry and Trade sector focuses on advising on preferential policies such as exemption and reduction of premises rent, land use fees, taxes, support capital, etc.
This is the basis for encouraging and attracting projects to develop bauxite - alumina - aluminum industry, renewable energy and high-tech agricultural processing projects from the province's raw materials.
According to Mr. Ut, the Industry and Trade sector continues to review, adjust and supplement processes and procedures to make them more favorable for investors.
Over the past 2 years, Dak Nong has called for and created favorable conditions for large investors to survey, research, and propose bauxite - alumina - aluminum projects and deep processing of aluminum products, and renewable energy projects.
Typical investors include: Duc Giang Chemical Group Joint Stock Company, Hoa Phat Group Joint Stock Company, Viet Phuong Investment Group Joint Stock Company, TH Group Joint Stock Company...
The Ministry of Industry and Trade is focusing on monitoring and advising the province to handle the recommendations of investors of key projects such as: Nhan Co Alumina Factory Project; Tran Hong Quan Aluminum Electrolysis Plant Project...
“Dak Nong will gradually build a cluster to develop the bauxite - alumina - aluminum industry; develop a cluster to link production - processing - deep processing - consumption of agricultural products. This will be the basis to attract “locomotive” enterprises, leading the province's industrial sector to make a breakthrough”.
