A few years ago, Ms. Hoang Thi Ket's family in Lang Ven village, Muong Lai commune, bought a rice milling machine to serve their production and service needs, but due to weak electricity, the machine couldn't run. Each time they needed to use it, they had to run a generator, which was very expensive and inconvenient, so she had to put aside her plan to open a rice milling service.
Today, with the national power grid extended to her home, Ms. Ket was overjoyed. Not only will her rice milling machine have a chance to restart, but it will also become a sustainable source of income for her family. She plans to buy more equipment and machinery to provide services to other villagers.

The village of Lang Ven has over 60 households. From 1965 onwards, to facilitate the construction of the Thac Ba hydroelectric power plant, the villagers had to relocate their homes and belongings to other places. After the reservoir was filled with water, many areas of land were not flooded, so in 1985 and 1986, the villagers returned to settle there.
For a long time, due to the distance from the transformer station and the lack of investment in the power grid, the people here had to use bamboo and wooden poles to bring electricity. The power supply was weak and intermittent, only enough for lighting and not suitable for other appliances. In addition, energy was wasted, leading to high electricity costs for the people.
After the transformer substation system and medium and low voltage power lines were invested in the village, the Luc Yen Area Power Management Team quickly deployed the installation of electricity meters for each household.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Head of the Yen The General Management Team, Luc Yen Area Electricity Management Team, previously there were 64 households in Lang Ven village divided into groups to share a single electricity meter.
In some areas, up to 20 households shared a single meter, leading to overloaded power lines and very weak electricity supply. With the newly invested electricity system, 64 households now have their own electricity meters.
"We have brought electricity to people's homes, providing safe and reliable power for them to use. The previous problem of weak electricity has been completely resolved," Thanh shared.

Installing individual meters also helps the electricity sector manage more efficiently, preventing fires and short circuits caused by long power lines extending from poles to houses. Mr. Thanh also stated that in some cases, power lines extend more than 3 kilometers from the main pole to people's homes, resulting in very weak electricity and posing a potential safety risk. With the new system, not only will a stable power supply be ensured, but dangerous incidents will also be avoided, especially during the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026.
Mr. Hoang Van Long, a resident of Lang Ven village, happily shared: "The electricity system is now stable. My family plans to buy a TV, refrigerator, and washing machine to make life more convenient."

The new power grid system not only improves living conditions but also provides impetus for people's economic development. With a stable power supply, many families have confidently invested in equipment for production and business. The installation of standardized remote meters also helps the electricity sector manage accurately, openly, and transparently, building trust among the people.

Along with the electricity system in Lang Ven village (Muong Lai commune), during this Lunar New Year, the Luc Yen Regional Electricity Management Team will continue to coordinate with relevant units to put into operation the newly invested and upgraded electricity system in Tham Pat, Be Choi, and Na Lay villages of Lam Thuong commune and Ban Ro village of Tan Linh commune. The unit will also send staff and workers to assist people in installing post-meter electricity systems and provide guidance on safe and economical electricity use.
Strengthening the electricity system in particularly disadvantaged areas not only brings light to individual households but is also a key element of social welfare policies in these localities, ensuring that no one is left behind in the development process.
