Rescued all crew members on the sunken coal ship

(Chinhphu.vn) - By 12 noon today (May 26), the most modern search and rescue ship in Vietnam, SAR 631, had discovered and rescued 6 crew members of the ship Cong Thanh 07 that sank while transporting coal from Quang Ninh to Quang Binh. The remaining 4 crew members were also promptly rescued by authorities.

According to the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (Maritime Rescue Center - PV), at 9:10 p.m. on May 25, the unit received a distress report from the ship Cong Thanh 07, located 6 nautical miles east of Son Suong port - Ha Tinh . At the time of the report, the ship Cong Thanh 07 had sunk, with 11 crew members on board. The area where the ship was in distress was about 30 meters deep, with northeast winds of level 5-6 and rough seas.

The Maritime Rescue Center has conducted verification and reported to the National Civil Defense Steering Committee; Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration. At the same time, it requested the authorities to mobilize forces and means on the spot to rescue the Cong Thanh 07 ship.

Emergency dispatch of specialized rescue vessel SAR 631

The Ministry of Construction and the Vietnam Maritime Administration have directed the Emergency Mobilization Center to dispatch the most modern search and rescue ship in Vietnam, SAR 631, to the rescue; and mobilized 7 other ships to participate in the search and rescue of the missing crew members, under the command of SAR 631.

At 3:10 a.m. today (May 26), fishing boat QB 93176 TS rescued a crew member at a location 17 nautical miles south-southeast of the accident site. Based on data collected from interviews with the rescued crew member, and weather data at the scene, the Center has re-established a new search plan with the participation of ships at the scene, led by SAR 631.

The forward command post was established and deployed in Vung Ang - Ha Tinh, directed by Deputy Director of Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration Hoang Hong Giang, with the participation of agencies including: Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center, Ha Tinh Maritime Port Authority, and relevant local agencies.

By noon today, SAR Ship 631 had directly discovered and rescued 6 crew members drifting at sea, other forces had found and rescued the remaining 4 crew members.

The captain of SAR 631 has announced the search results to all ships participating in the search and rescue at the scene.

The ship is 63m long, can accommodate up to 100 people, has an operating range of more than 3,000 nautical miles, and will be equipped for the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center from the end of 2024.
