Cybertruck inventory piles up, Tesla launches a series of incentives to "save" sales

Before the federal tax credit for electric vehicles in the US ended on October 1, Tesla unexpectedly launched a series of strong incentives for its Cybertruck electric pickup truck. While consumers benefited from the program, observers said this was a sell-off to clear a large inventory of vehicles.

According to information from the Tesla distribution system in the US, from now until September 30, customers can get a discount of up to 3,000 USD (equivalent to nearly 80 million VND) when buying Cybertruck available in stock. In addition, priority groups such as students, teachers, soldiers and medical staff will receive an additional 1,000 USD, and can experience the FSD (Full Self-Driving) package for free for one month.

Tesla deeply discounts Cybertruck by up to $3,000, with many gifts and 0% installment incentives to clear inventory.

Notably, Tesla also offers a 0% interest installment payment policy for 60 months for eligible customers, with the requirement to purchase additional FSD and make a deposit of at least 4%. Notably, Tesla is allowing the transfer of the FSD package from an old car to a new Cybertruck for the first time, something that has never happened before. In addition, some Cybertruck rental models also come with a set of 20-inch “Cyber Wheels” with off-road tires, an accessory that used to be charged separately.

Experts say that this series of incentives is not simply to stimulate demand but reflects the poor consumption of Cybertruck. Many Tesla dealers said that the number of Cybertrucks in stock is currently very large, and the application of many forms of discounts and gifts is to push inventory before the US government 's tax incentives end.

In fact, the Cybertruck is facing a lot of criticism for its build quality, performance and practicality. The pickup truck that Elon Musk once expected to be the new symbol of Tesla has not shown its worthy position after nearly a year on the market.

With a starting price of $70,000 (over VND1.8 billion), Cybertruck is considered difficult to reach for most consumers.
