Da Nang bursts with color on the opening night of DIFF 2026.

(CLO) On the evening of May 30th, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2026 (DIFF 2026) officially opened on the banks of the Han River, attracting a large number of locals and tourists to enjoy the competition between the host team Da Nang (Vietnam) and the reigning champion China.

With the shared theme of "Nature," the two teams presented distinct performance styles, creating a spectacular light show in the city's sky.

Opening the festival night, the Da Nang team told a story about the natural beauty of Vietnam, from its rich heritage sites to a message of environmental protection and a green future. The fireworks display continuously transformed colors, combining dazzling grand scenes with emotionally resonant moments, taking the audience on a journey through various emotions.

The home team's performance was highly praised for its harmonious blend of increasingly refined technique and artistic and emotional elements, contributing to the unique character of Da Nang's fireworks displays in recent festival seasons.

Meanwhile, the Chinese team continued to assert their position as the reigning champion with a performance titled "Flower of the Orient." Leveraging their strengths in staging techniques and the ability to synchronize fireworks with music , the team created dense, constantly changing light effects in terms of shape and color against the backdrop of the Han River.

In particular, the inclusion of the song "Vietnam's Quintessence" in the performance created an unexpected highlight, receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience. Many rounds of applause erupted as the familiar melody filled the festival atmosphere, contributing to memorable moments on the opening night.

Following the first night of competition, DIFF 2026 will continue with weekly Saturday evening contests. On June 6th, the French team will face the Z121 Vina Pyrotech team (Vietnam) with the theme "Heritage"; on June 13th, Japan and Italy will compete with the theme "Culture"; on June 20th, Germany will meet Macau (China) with the theme "Creativity"; and on June 27th, Australia and Portugal will compete with the theme "Vision". The final night is scheduled for July 11th.

With the participation of many of the world's leading fireworks teams, DIFF 2026 is expected to continue to affirm its position as one of the largest and most attractive fireworks festivals in the region, while contributing to promoting the image of Da Nang as a leading event tourism destination in Vietnam.
