Da Nang: Foreign affairs and integration for development

Cultural diplomacy contributes to promoting and developing the values of the city's human identity.

In the 2021-2025 period, Da Nang's international integration work has achieved many important milestones. Da Nang has welcomed more than 3,000 international delegations, including many heads of state and high-ranking delegations; hosted major international events; effectively promoted culture, affirming its position as a safe and friendly international city. At the same time, many defense-security cooperation activities have been implemented, contributing to maintaining sovereignty, a peaceful and stable environment.

Da Nang City has established friendly cooperative relations with 60 localities in 24 countries on 5 continents, with 120 signed cooperation agreements, in which many programs have gone into depth and effectiveness.

The city has licensed 797 FDI projects with a total capital of over 1.07 billion USD, focusing on high technology, logistics and tourism. The city's total import-export turnover is estimated at 41 billion USD, with the main markets being Northeast Asia, America and the EU.

In the recent period, Da Nang has received VND14,883 billion in ODA capital and VND1,432 billion from non-governmental aid, focusing on the fields of health, environment and social security, contributing to solving social problems in a sustainable manner.

Tourism has rapidly recovered after the Covid pandemic with 36 million arrivals, including 11.7 million international arrivals. New development models such as International Financial Centers, Free Trade Zones, cooperation programs in education, science-technology, health, environment, and tourism have been expanded, creating an important foundation for sustainable development.

Da Nang affirms that integration is a strategic driving force for development. Entering the 2025-2030 period, Da Nang identifies foreign affairs and international integration as important tasks to realize development goals.

Rewarding groups and individuals with outstanding achievements.

Accordingly, the city has set out five basic goals and five key groups of tasks: strengthening international research and forecasting; exploiting new growth drivers; promoting regional and international border gate linkages; mobilizing social resources; consolidating a secure and friendly environment, taking people as "Integration Ambassadors".

At the Conference, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation was also presented between the Department of Foreign Affairs of Da Nang and the Representative Office of Chungcheongnam Province (Korea), and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the City People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 18 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing international integration and cooperation work in the 2021-2025 period.
