Recently, the renowned American travel website Travel Off Path named Da Nang among the top 5 most affordable destinations for digital nomads in Asia in 2025.
"Digital nomad" is a term used to describe people who don't work in a fixed location. They frequently move around, traveling freely while working remotely using technology and the internet.
According to a report by MBO Partners, the number of digital nomads has grown impressively, from approximately 7.3 million in 2019 to 18 million in 2024. Notably, Travel Off Path – one of the leading travel information platforms for this community – has attracted over 6 million readers per month. These figures not only demonstrate the explosion of a new lifestyle but also reflect the growing interest in a free and flexible living in the digital age.

According to the American travel website Travel Off Path, if you are a "digital nomad" who loves exploring local cultures and warm, sunny weather year-round, but dislike the increasing crowds in Southern Europe, the less-than-impressive safety levels in Latin America, or the exorbitant prices in the Caribbean, then Asia is the ideal choice for you.
"Not only does Asia boast vibrant cities that never sleep and breathtaking natural landscapes, but it's also considered the most budget-friendly continent for remote workers to travel to, thanks to its low cost of living and affordable consumer prices," Travel Off Path notes, explaining why Asia is so appealing to digital nomads.

Da Nang, dubbed the "tourism capital of Central Vietnam," is increasingly asserting its position with a harmonious blend of culture, history, and nature. The cost of living in Da Nang is very reasonable, with average rent around $355.33 USD (over 9 million VND). A bowl of pho costs an average of $1.58 USD (approximately 40,000 VND), and a three-course meal at a fine restaurant costs $24.62 USD (nearly 700,000 VND).
From Da Nang, a US travel website suggests that tourists visit Ba Na Hills – a prominent destination in the city. “Ba Na Hills is where tourists can explore the majestic beauty of nature,” Travel Off Path commented. Here, adventurous travelers can visit the Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist complex with world-famous attractions such as the Golden Bridge, experience captivating shows, visit the French Village, or the brewery located at the highest point in Vietnam… The Sun KraftBeer craft beer, brewed right on top of Ba Na Hills using an original recipe from Bavaria, Germany, is a highlight not to be missed. Each glass of Sun KraftBeer offers a rich, smooth flavor, a perfect experience for those who love a free and adventurous lifestyle.

Beyond its recreational activities, Ba Na Hill is also home to Linh Ung Pagoda – an ancient temple with a serene and sacred atmosphere, an ideal destination for contemplation and finding balance in life. Not only does it hold cultural and spiritual value, Linh Ung Pagoda in Ba Na also impresses with its ancient Vietnamese architecture, majestic natural scenery, and the largest statue of Buddha in Da Nang.

In addition, Da Nang offers many experiences favored by nomads, such as some of the most beautiful beaches on the planet like My Khe, or exploring the pristine nature of Son Tra Peninsula. There are also exciting adventure experiences, such as paragliding or jet skiing…
Attracting a digital nomad community not only generates direct economic revenue from tourism, accommodation, and daily expenses, but also contributes to sustainable local development. Digital nomads invest, earn, and spend money in their local communities, thereby contributing to the local economy without taking jobs away from indigenous people. Beyond boosting tourism and consumption, digital nomad workers also contribute to creating technology hubs around the world. Furthermore, the presence of digital nomads provides an opportunity to promote the destination's image through networking and shared content on digital platforms. This helps to enhance the locality's standing on the international tourism map.
Besides Da Nang, this Travel Off Path list also includes another famous Vietnamese destination, Hoi An, along with other well-known tourist spots such as Chiang Mai (Thailand), Makassar (Indonesia), Phnom Penh (Cambodia)...
