Speaking at the first meeting of the City Party Executive Committee, term I, on the morning of October 10, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, said that Da Nang aims to have 100% of households having access to broadband fiber optic internet by 2030; 5G coverage in central areas of mountainous communes and community tourism spots.
According to Mr. Hong, from July 1, Quang Nam and Da Nang officially merged, along with the implementation of a two-level government, Da Nang currently has 35 mountainous communes, and nearly 20 ethnic minorities living there.
Basic telecommunications infrastructure is widespread, most of the highland villages and communes have 4G mobile waves and fiber optic internet, creating the foundation for connection.
The formation of "Community Digital Technology Teams" has initially played the role of an extended arm, directly supporting and guiding people in installing and using basic digital applications.

There have been a number of models applying science and technology to agricultural production, growing and processing medicinal herbs, bringing initial economic efficiency, especially developing Ngoc Linh ginseng root varieties, planning stable raw material areas, and building production chains with businesses.
Mr. Hong also pointed out that there are still many major barriers in the process of improving science and technology and popularizing digital services for ethnic minorities and mountainous areas. People's digital capacity is still limited, this is the biggest "bottleneck".
Infrastructure quality is uneven, network quality in some remote areas, rugged terrain is still weak, unstable, many areas have low signal, "no signal". Meanwhile, the monthly cost of maintaining digital services is still a burden for low-income households.
The rate of ethnic minority and mountainous households having smartphones, computers, and technological equipment for production is still very low.

To develop information technology infrastructure to popularize digital services to ethnic minority and mountainous areas, Da Nang has set out key solutions such as completing a solid digital infrastructure, ensuring there are no more "weak signal" or "no signal" areas.
Build free high-speed wifi spots at cultural houses, community centers, schools, medical stations, and research preferential internet and mobile data packages specifically for poor and near-poor households in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
Enhance digital capacity and culture for the community, promote the application of science and technology, develop a "tailor-made" digital platform, perfect policy mechanisms and mobilize resources.
