According to the Da Nang Department of Health , “medical brokers” are individuals (either inside or outside medical facilities) who act as intermediaries, entice, or lead patients to medical examination and treatment at medical facilities according to agreements or for personal gain. This situation not only causes insecurity and disorder in hospital premises but also affects the rights, service quality, and people’s trust in the medical sector.
To strengthen the management of medical examination and treatment, ensure a civilized and transparent medical examination and treatment environment, and prevent negative situations that affect the reputation of the health sector, the Da Nang Department of Health requires units to seriously review, evaluate, and report on the current situation of whether or not there are "brokers" in medical examination and treatment, patient brokers at the unit and the surrounding area. In particular, it is necessary to clearly state the current situations at the unit, the forms of external subjects or unit staff colluding with external subjects (if any), and handling measures.
At the same time, units review and evaluate existing problems, limit potential risks of "brokers" in medical examination and treatment at the unit and surrounding areas. Strengthen strict implementation of internal management and monitoring solutions, arrange personnel to monitor and follow through the security camera system.
Direct and thoroughly educate cadres, civil servants, employees, and security forces to increase vigilance and monitoring; promptly detect "broker" acts of medical examination and treatment inside and outside the unit, report, handle, provide information, coordinate with the police and relevant agencies and units to handle negative acts (if any).
The Da Nang Department of Health requires units to strengthen propaganda and dissemination to all officials, employees, patients, and patients' relatives about violations related to hospital "brokers", medical examination and treatment "brokers", and current legal regulations, thereby raising awareness and proper behavior in the process of providing medical services.
Previously, as SGGPO reported, a long clip shared on social media recorded the story of a girl reflecting on how she was "lured" to have a health check-up at a private clinic near Hai Chau Regional Medical Center (Da Nang City) with an unusually high fee.
