Authorities in Phu Tho province have found the last body of five missing students in the Red River alluvial plain in Hien Quan commune, Tam Nong district, Phu Tho.
On the morning of November 20, Mr. Le Trung Huyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hien Quan commune confirmed that at 7:30 a.m. today, search and rescue forces found the bodies of 3 missing students when they went to the Red River bank on the afternoon of November 18.
"Currently, the authorities are carrying out identification procedures and handing over the children's bodies to their families for burial according to local customs," said Mr. Huyen.
Thus, up to now, after 2 days of searching, authorities have found the bodies of 5 missing students in Hien Quan commune.
Previously, on the afternoon of November 18, a group of 10 eighth graders from Hien Quan commune went to the Red River to play in the area of Zone 1, Hien Quan commune. After that, 6 students drowned, 1 student was able to swim to shore, and 5 students were missing. The identities of the 5 students in the accident were identified as: Le Anh D., Ha Tien D., Tran My D., Bui Kieu LA, Ha Thi TL.
Immediately after receiving the news, Phu Tho provincial authorities deployed forces and vehicles and set up a field command post to carry out rescue work and search for victims.
