Van Don Special Zone held a meeting to review and deploy response work for storm No. 9

In the face of the complicated developments of storm Ragasa (storm No. 9), on the afternoon of September 23, the People's Committee of Van Don Special Economic Zone held a meeting to review and deploy prevention and control measures. Comrade Cao Tuong Huy, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of the Special Economic Zone, chaired the meeting.

Through screening, by 6 p.m. today, September 23, 1,085/1,350 fishing boats in the area had entered safe anchorage, 265 boats were moving to shelters; 90/102 passenger transport boats had been mobilized to Ao Tien Port; 607 rafts had been reinforced and more than 1,300 workers had moved ashore as committed. For the island routes, there are currently 180 tourists (14 international tourists) staying on Quan Lan Island who have all been instructed to move to the mainland before the ban on boats.

Van Don Special Zone has established 12 working groups on duty in the localities, and mobilized armed forces, police, border guards, brigades, navy, militia and self-defense forces... to be ready for rescue according to the motto "3 before, 4 on the spot".

Directing the meeting, Comrade Cao Tuong Huy, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the Van Don Special Zone Party Committee, requested the Special Zone Civil Defense Command to assign specific tasks to each member to continue to strictly control boats and rafts, notify and call on boats and rafts to take shelter; firmly tie down and reinforce rafts and cages, and not leave people on boats, boats, and rafts when the storm makes landfall. For 507 houses at risk of losing their roofs, make plans to evacuate people to safe places before 11:00 a.m. on September 24. Functional forces and armed forces maintain on-duty forces and coordinate operations to promptly respond to the storm. At the same time, establish and maintain regular reporting channels to grasp the situation and make timely decisions, minimizing damage to people and property.
