On May 30th, information from the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Office indicated that a unique gong performance by gong clubs and child artists from the J'rai and BahNar ethnic groups of Gia Lai province will take place on the evenings of May 30th and 31st. The program will be held at Dai Doan Ket Square in Pleiku Ward, Gia Lai Province.

Specifically, on the evening of May 30th, starting at 7 PM at the Green Grass stage (located in Dai Doan Ket Square), 40 J'rai ethnic artisans from the Krai village gong club (Chu Pah commune) will participate in the "Weekend Gong Performance - Enjoy & Experience" program.
During the performance, the artists will present many special acts such as gong performances with traditional folk songs of their ethnic group like "Welcoming Guests," "Going to Gather Wild Vegetables," "Celebrating the New Rice Harvest"; and a performance of traditional ethnic instruments with the song "Celebrating Victory." In addition, the artists will also perform folk songs of their ethnic group such as "Ơ adơi ơi," "Dăm Brong," etc.

The Krai Village Gong Club (Chu Pah Commune) was established according to Plan No. 90/KH-SVHTTDL, dated November 5, 2025, of the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the spirit of building folk cultural activity clubs in ethnic minority, mountainous, and resettlement areas under the National Target Program for socio -economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Gia Lai province in 2025.
Particularly on the evening of May 31st, also at Dai Doan Ket Square, there will be a spectacular performance by 40 young artists from Dak Po Kao village (To Tung commune). The performance is organized to entertain children, in celebration of International Children's Day on June 1st.

Here, folk songs of the BahNar ethnic group such as "Rain Prayer Ceremony," "Lullaby," "Celebrating the New Rice Harvest," "Rhythm of the Central Highlands Gongs," "Praising Uncle Ho," etc., are performed through the rhythms of gongs and drums by young artists.
The "Weekend Gong and Drum Performance - Enjoy & Experience" program is organized according to Plan No. 78/KH-UBND, dated February 24, 2026, of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, in the spirit of implementing the Project on Preserving, Promoting and Advertising the Unique Traditional Cultural Values of Gia Lai Province in 2026; the Project on Preserving and Promoting the Value of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Gong and Drum Music in Gia Lai Province in 2026; and at the same time contributing to serving the people and tourists during the "National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026". The program will be held regularly from 7 PM to 9 PM every Saturday evening and on holidays, important events, from March to the end of December 2026 at Dai Doan Ket Square.

Through previous performances, tourists and locals alike have had enjoyable experiences. Ms. Trinh Thi Nga, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, shared: “I was quite surprised by the weekend gong performance program regularly organized by Gia Lai province every Saturday evening. Here, my mother and I gained a deeper understanding of the people of the Central Highlands, their unique culture, and the distinctive dishes found only in the Central Highlands.”

As for Mr. Rơ Châm Ngao (Ốp village, Pleiku), he said: “This is an extremely beneficial activity, not only providing interesting experiences for tourists from near and far, but also contributing to educating young people like us, our children and grandchildren, to better understand the culture of our ethnic group in particular, and of the Central Highlands community in general. Through this, we can work together to preserve and promote those unique spiritual values.”
Mr. Rơ Châm Ngao hopes that the "Weekend Gong and Drum Performance - Enjoy & Experience" program will not only be held at the end of December 2026, but will be organized regularly and continuously, with the aim of spreading the beautiful image of the people and culture of Gia Lai more widely.
