On the evening of August 18 (the 15th day of the 7th lunar month of the year of the Dragon), at Bao Ha Temple in Bao Yen District, Lao Cai Province, a ceremony to pray for peace and release flower lanterns took place.

At the ceremony, Buddhist dignitaries, monks and nuns performed prayers for peace.
The peace-praying ceremony aims to commemorate the great contributions of Mr. Hoang Bay and his ancestors. At the same time, it helps monks, nuns, Buddhists, people and tourists better understand the history and traditions of building and defending the country of the nation.
After the prayer ceremony, delegates, together with local residents and tourists, performed the ritual of releasing flower lanterns on the Chay River. This year, Bao Ha Temple prepared 3,000 flower lanterns for Buddhists and local people attending the ceremony.
Many people came to the Chay River area, near Bao Ha Temple, to line up to attend the flower lantern releasing ceremony.
According to Buddhist beliefs, releasing flower lanterns on the river is to pray for national peace and prosperity, and for peace for everyone.
