The Rija Nugar ceremony (New Year's Dance Ceremony) is one of the typical rituals in the New Year's festival system of the Cham village of Binh Nghia. The Rija Nugar ceremony in Binh Nghia village not only includes the entrance ceremony (the Mưduen priest beating the Paranưng drum and singing the ritual songs, and the Ka-ing shaman performing the ritual dance) as commonly seen in other Cham villages, but also the exit ceremony with various forms of music and ritual performances such as the Kadhar ritual singing art and other performances: call-and-response singing, fertility dances, and farewell singing and dancing... all possessing significant artistic value and symbolic meaning.
With its distinctive and characteristic values, in 2021, the New Year festival system of Binh Nghia Cham village was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Reporters from Khanh Hoa Newspaper and Radio & Television captured some remarkable images at the Rija Nugar Festival in Binh Nghia Cham village.
