This year, Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy has an enrollment target of 1,390 students in 6 majors: Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Traditional Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing and Laboratory Technology.

Up to this point, 1,243 candidates have passed the entrance exam, of which 559 candidates have passed the entrance exam for the Faculty of Medicine/550 targets (the minimum score is 24.60 points); 124 candidates have passed the entrance exam for the Faculty of Traditional Medicine/120 targets (the minimum score is 19 points). The remaining faculties still have a shortage of admission quotas with the minimum score all below 20 points.
The university training management department said that the school's consistent viewpoint up to now is not to consider admission based on academic records because it does not accurately reflect the candidates' academic ability.
The unit considers admission based on high school graduation exam results, in addition, priority is given to candidates with international English certificates and certificates of excellent students from provincial level or higher.
Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Thanh Binh, Head of University Training Management Department (Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy) shared: Top medical schools in the country (including Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy) do not consider admission based on academic records, but on actual scores in the high school graduation exam.

Explaining the reason why for many years now, the recruitment quota for the Preventive Medicine major has not been met, Mr. Binh shared: the main problem is that the regulations on job positions for this major are not clear yet. Specifically, the study time is 6 years, similar to training a general practitioner, after graduation, a preventive medicine degree is granted but the development of skills is very limited, there is no room for application, and if switching to the treatment sector, it will be stuck with the provisions of the law.
Last year, Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy exceeded its enrollment target by 0.3% (enrolling about 1,600 students). This year, the enrollment number is not enough to meet the plan, so the school is expected to enroll in the second round starting September 1, in accordance with regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .
