Guests will have the opportunity to meet the team members and wish them luck on their historic journey, as well as enjoy some exciting entertainment, including a live performance of a popular song. The Ambassadors will also present special gifts to the departing members.
Australian Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski said: "The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup will be the third most-watched sporting event in the world and a fantastic opportunity to promote women's participation in sport. I congratulate all members of the Vietnam women's football team for being part of this incredible sporting event. As Prime Minister Albanese and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said in a recent meeting with the team - You are winners, go and enjoy yourself - You have done us proud."
Expressing her excitement at the event, New Zealand Ambassador Tredene Dobson said she had been waiting for this day for a long time, and was delighted to welcome the Vietnam women's national football team to Aotearoa New Zealand to participate in the Women's World Cup for the first time.
“This farewell party is a great opportunity for us to send them our best wishes for their historic journey ahead. We know that Vietnam’s golden girls will make Vietnam proud, and want the people of Aotearoa New Zealand to see the fighting spirit they have shown throughout their journey to this tournament.”
It is known that after the reception, the national football team will leave for New Zealand on July 5 to prepare for the group stage, where they will compete with the defending champions USA, Portugal and the Netherlands.
