Dakota Fanning remembers the first phone Tom Cruise gave her as a birthday gift

Andrew Scott, 47, asked Dakota Fanning, "Who gave you your first cell phone?" After Fanning shared that Tom Cruise, her co-star in 2005's War of the Worlds , gave her a Motorola Razr for her 11th birthday, Scott asked, "Were you excited?"

Dakota Fanning is now 30 years old and was photographed with Tom Cruise at age 11.

"Oh my God, I was so excited," the actress gushed. But it may not have been the most helpful gift, as Fanning admitted she "had no one to call or text at the time."

"You know, I was 11 years old. But I loved it. I loved it. I felt great," Fanning continued.

Not only was the gift an iconic flip phone, the Twilight actress also revealed to Scott: "Tom has sent me a birthday present every year since then," noting that the most recent gift came on her 30th birthday earlier this month.

"So thoughtful. Really, really wonderful," she said of the film star. Top Gun while Scott joked: "He never gave me anything."

Tom Cruise's Motorola Razr isn't the only gift Dakota Fanning received from a Hollywood icon during her child star days.

While appearing with Scott on ELLE 's Ask Me Anything interview series, the actress said that the "best gift" she ever received was given to her by Kurt Russell - her co-star in 2005's Dreamer .

"Kurt Russell gave me a horse," Fanning said. Reflecting on working with Tom Cruise, Kurt Russell and other celebrities as a child star, Dakota Fanning told ELLE magazine that she wasn't scared because it had become normal for her.
