On July 17, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended and spoke at the 18th session of the 16th Hai Phong City People's Council with a message to the city's Party Committee and government to continue promoting the spirit of daring to think, daring to do, daring to break through, creating new momentum and development space for Hai Phong to become more and more prosperous.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that Hai Phong is a class I urban area, has an important strategic position in the Northern region and is the growth pole of the economic triangle of Hanoi, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.

In the first 6 months of the year, the economic growth rate (GRDP) is estimated at 10.32%, ranking 5th in the country and first among 5 centrally-run cities.

Total state budget revenue in the area reached 60,812 billion VND, up 34.77% over the same period; export turnover was estimated at 17.2 billion USD, up 28.87% over the same period; tourists were estimated at 4,270 thousand arrivals, up 16.25% over the same period.

Hai Phong is also the first locality to apply 5G network for seaports and smart factories and is among the first in the country to issue a set of digital culture criteria; leading the country in implementing social housing development policies.

To successfully carry out the tasks in the last 6 months of the year, the National Assembly Chairman requested Hai Phong to evaluate and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing Resolution No. 45 dated January 24, 2019 of the Politburo on building and developing Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Speed up the progress of public investment projects, infrastructure, socio-economics, especially key and important projects of the city. At the same time, encourage economic sectors to invest in developing economic, cultural and social works to make Hai Phong a livable city.

In particular, it is necessary to promote the spirit of daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility for the common good and promptly commend and reward cadres with many achievements and contributions to the city's development.

"Reform, innovation, daring to think, daring to do, daring to make breakthroughs not only create new momentum and development space for the locality, but also connect with the international market; build Hai Phong city to be increasingly rich, beautiful and civilized" - the National Assembly Chairman emphasized.

The 18th session of the 16th Hai Phong City People's Council, taking place over 3 days (from July 17 to 19), will focus on reviewing, discussing and approving 30 thematic resolutions.

Including many important contents such as: adjusting and supplementing the public investment plan for 2024; expected public investment plan of the city for 2025; exemption and reduction of some types of fees and charges related to the conversion of documents due to changes in boundaries and names of administrative units at district and commune levels;

Decision on investment policy to build hospitals: Vinh Bao, Thuy Nguyen, Tien Lang, Bach Long Vy. Decision on investment policy to renovate old apartment buildings in Van My ward, Ngo Quyen district; Project to build traffic roads and urban embellishment in Do Son district...
