RT reported that President Zelensky said on January 22 that the first trilateral talks between Russia, the US, and Ukraine are expected to take place in the next two days (January 23-24) in the UAE.
The Ukrainian leader made this statement in a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on January 22.

"The US delegation will arrive in Moscow on January 22nd. They have been waiting for our meeting with US President Donald Trump, and now they will leave. The Ukrainian delegation will meet with the US delegation. I think this will be the first trilateral meeting in the UAE," Zelensky said on January 22nd, but did not explicitly mention Russia's participation in the upcoming talks.
Meanwhile, neither Moscow nor Washington has confirmed the imminent trilateral talks. The United Arab Emirates has also not issued any official statement regarding this announcement.
The idea of holding trilateral talks between Moscow, Kyiv, and Washington at different levels of representation is a consistent element in US President Donald Trump's efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
In August 2025, Trump said that a trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Zelensky "would take place." At the time, Moscow said preparations for such a meeting were "not very active."
Russia has repeatedly signaled that while it does not oppose a meeting between Putin and Zelensky, such an event should be considered the final stage of negotiations, following concrete progress in the peace process.
