(Dan Tri) - On the afternoon of July 2, Dan Tri newspaper in collaboration with Vietnam Pickleball Sports Forum Joint Stock Company will organize a draw for athletes to compete in 8 events taking place on July 5 and 6 in Hanoi.

The pickleball tournament "Dan Tri 20 years - New bright days" is expected to have 576 athletes competing in 8 events, including 6 events for amateur athletes: Dan Tri Lead, Dan Tri & Friends, men's doubles 6.5, men's doubles 5.5, women's doubles 5.0, women's doubles 4.5. In addition, the tournament will have 2 events for professional athletes, including Open men's doubles and Open women's doubles.

Game time:

July 5 (starting at 8am, after the opening ceremony) competition events include: Dan Tri Lead, 5.5 level men's doubles, Open women's doubles, Open men's doubles.

July 6 (starting at 7am) competition includes: Dan Tri & Friends, women's doubles level 4.5, women's doubles level 5.0 and men's doubles level 6.5.

Competition format:

Apply according to Pickleball rules issued by Vietnam Sports Department.

Competition format: Double elimination

Round 1: 1 set per match, play until reaching 11 points, no 2-point difference, reaching 6 points, both sides change sides; The winning team in round 1 continues to round 3.

The losing teams continue to round 2 (knockout), the winning teams in round 2 continue to round 3; the losing teams are eliminated.

Starting from round 2 onwards: 1 set per match, play until reaching 15 points, no 2-point gap, touch 8, both sides change courts (except for the two categories Dan Tri Lead, Dan Tri & Friends, the format will be applied from round 1 to round 3, play until reaching 11 points, no 2-point gap, touch 6, both sides change courts).

Score and rank athletes in the table:

- A team that wins a match gets 1 point, loses 0 points, and forfeits 0 points.

- Priority order of ranking in the table: Bonus points, difference in points won and lost in the match, head-to-head, draw.

For competitions with less than 8 registered teams, the Organizing Committee has the right to cancel the competition and refund the registration fee to the athletes or adjust the prize structure accordingly.

Applying modern VAR technology

For the first time, 12-eye VAR technology will be applied at the "Dan Tri 20 Years - Bright New Day" pickleball tournament with the support of MK Vision technology unit.

This is considered the most modern technology applied for the first time at a pickleball tournament in Vietnam with the goal of ensuring the highest level of transparency and fairness, minimizing disputes between athletes and referees in matches for hidden situations, where the ball's trajectory is not visible, or the speed is too fast for the naked eye to follow.

Thanks to this technology, referees have a clearer view of situations where the ball touches the line or goes out, or other foul situations by athletes, thereby minimizing errors and controversies after decisions.

In addition, there will be 9 cameras attached to the referees, helping to protect the referees after the decisions they make. This helps the matches to be more professional, avoiding complaints from athletes in situations of serving out or errors when serving or playing.

Thanks to that, the match also reduces dead ball time, bringing excitement to the audience on the field watching and cheering for the athletes.

The pickleball tournament "Dan Tri 20 years - Bright new day" co-organized by Dan Tri newspaper and Vietnam Pickleball Sports Forum Joint Stock Company (PICKFAIR) will take place at Dai Kim Pickleball Complex (Hoang Mai, Hanoi) on July 5 and 6.

Due to the large number of athletes participating in the tournament, the Organizing Committee recommends that athletes ensure the correct time to participate. Athletes who are not in good health will not be allowed to compete and the Organizing Committee will refund the athletes to avoid unfortunate incidents.

Athletes will also be disqualified if they are not present when the referee calls their name in the competition registration event after 10 minutes. Athletes must take care of and arrange their own belongings and the Organizing Committee will not be responsible for any lost or misplaced belongings during the competition.
