US Open Men's Singles Semifinal Schedule
Carlos Alcaraz - Novak Djokovic (2 a.m., September 6)
Felix Auger-Aliassime - Jannik Sinner (2 hours, September 6)
Jannik Sinner produced a near-perfect performance at the US Open on Tuesday morning, defeating compatriot Lorenzo Musetti 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in the first all-Italian quarter-final of a men's Grand Slam. The victory made Sinner the second-youngest man in the Open Era to reach the semi-finals of all four Grand Slams in a single season, after Rafael Nadal (2008).

After dropping just three games to Alexander Bublik in the fourth round, Sinner continued his dominance against Musetti. "We know each other very well. We come from the same country. Every time we have a lot of Italians in the draw. I know there are a lot of Italians here, so it's great to play here. Obviously when we play Davis Cup and things like that, we have to put our friendship aside for the match, when we shake hands, everything is fine," Sinner said after the two-hour victory.
"In my opinion it was a great performance, very solid. Especially the start of the game was very good," he added.
Sinner has won the last three Grand Slam hard-court tournaments, extending his winning streak at those events to 26 matches, tying him with Novak Djokovic and Ivan Lendl for the third-longest hard-court winning streak in men's singles at major tournaments.
With his sights set on beating Carlos Alcaraz at Flushing Meadows to retain the ATP world No. 1 ranking, Sinner will first turn his attention to semifinalist Felix Auger-Aliassime, one of the few players with a 2-1 head-to-head advantage over the No. 1 seed. Sinner eased past Auger-Aliassime in Cincinnati last month, dropping just two games in the quarterfinals. Both of Auger-Aliassime’s victories over Sinner came in 2022.
Sinner kept his will on Musetti, sticking to the baseline, breaking away repeatedly and forcing the 10th seed to play defensively for much of the match. He rarely gave Musetti a chance to counterattack, winning 91% (42/46) of his first-serve points. Musetti won just 18 of his 75 return points in the match and failed to convert any of his seven break opportunities.
Sinner is just one win away from reaching 300 tour-level wins, with the Italian holding a 36-4 record for the season. At 24 years and 18 days, Sinner is the youngest player to reach 25 major tournament wins in a season, surpassing Mats Wilander (24 years, 20 days in 1988).
Sinner is on course to face Alcaraz for the fifth consecutive time in tournaments they have both played in, their most recent clash coming in Cincinnati, where the Italian fell ill ahead of the highly anticipated final and retired after five games.

The 20-time major champion has been at his best over the past two weeks, dropping just one set (to Shapovalov in the third round) in the entire tournament. Sinner has dropped 38 games in five matches, the second-fewest games lost by a player on the way to a US Open semi-final since 2020. Last year, Jack Draper dropped just 36 games on the way to the semi-finals.
Sinner is aiming for his fifth Grand Slam title and second at the US Open. If he wins in New York, it will be his fourth Grand Slam title in his last five appearances, with the only one he has missed coming at Roland Garros this year, where Sinner missed three championship points in a classic final against Alcaraz.
Sinner and Alcaraz have shared the last seven Grand Slam titles and are on course to extend their streak to eight, marking the second straight time the duo have not dropped a Grand Slam match in a calendar year. Sinner is second in the ATP Live Race To Turin, trailing leader Alcaraz by 2,290 points heading into the semi-finals on September 6.
