The bombing in Pakistan occurred on May 24th in the southwestern city of Quetta, when a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle loaded with explosives near the railway tracks as a passenger train was passing by. Authorities said at least 23 people were killed and more than 70 injured.
The force of the explosion caused two train carriages to derail and catch fire, creating a large column of black smoke. According to witnesses and images circulating on social media, the attack occurred in an area where security forces are usually stationed, damaging several nearby buildings and destroying more than 10 vehicles parked along the roadside.
Doctors at a local hospital said 20 injured people were in critical condition. Following the explosion, a medical emergency was declared at hospitals in Quetta, while authorities launched an investigation.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), an armed group banned by Pakistan and seeking independence from the central government, claimed responsibility for the attack. In a statement sent to the press, the group said the target was a train carrying security personnel.
Quetta is the capital of Balochistan province, a region rich in oil and minerals but which has long experienced low levels of violence. Armed groups there typically target security forces, government facilities, and civilians.
Shahid Rind, a spokesman for the Balochistan provincial government, condemned the attack, saying that the terrorists deserved no mercy. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also called it a "cowardly act of terrorism" and offered his condolences to the families of the victims.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari affirmed that his country will defeat terrorism and those who support, finance, and provide refuge to terrorists.
