Nearly 420 billion VND was spent on gifts for people who rendered meritorious services on July 27th.

On June 18th, acting on behalf of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs signed a submission to the President regarding the awarding of gifts to those who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution, on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2024).

Accordingly, for this year's anniversary, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs continues to propose two gift levels of 600,000 VND and 300,000 VND for people with meritorious services.

Specifically, the gift of 600,000 VND will be given to those who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution, including: Vietnamese Heroic Mothers who are currently receiving monthly preferential allowances, and individuals who were awarded the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mother before July 28, 2024, but have not yet completed the procedures for receiving monthly preferential allowances.

This gift is also given to war invalids, those receiving benefits similar to war invalids, war invalids of type B, sick soldiers with a body injury rate of 81% or higher who are receiving monthly preferential allowances; and resistance fighters exposed to chemical toxins with a body injury rate of 81% or higher who are receiving monthly preferential allowances.

In addition, relatives of martyrs who are receiving monthly survivor's benefits; and relatives of two or more martyrs who are receiving monthly survivor's benefits are also eligible to receive this gift.

The remaining 300,000 VND will be given to war invalids, those receiving benefits similar to war invalids, war invalids of type B, sick soldiers with a body injury rate of 80% or less who are receiving monthly preferential allowances; and war invalids who are receiving disability benefits.

This gift is also given to resistance fighters who were exposed to chemical toxins, with a body injury rate of 80% or less, and are receiving monthly preferential allowances; representatives of the families of martyrs; and those who worship martyrs in cases where the martyrs no longer have surviving relatives.

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs estimates the total cost for giving gifts to the aforementioned meritorious individuals on this occasion to be 419.6 billion VND.

This funding has been allocated in the 2024 State budget plan.

Every year, on the occasions of the Lunar New Year and the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27th), the Prime Minister authorizes the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to submit to the President a Decision on awarding gifts to people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution.

Previously, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister to allow the giving of gifts to those who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution. The eligible recipients and gift amounts remain the same as in 2023.
