The survey team was organized by the Hanoi Department of Tourism in Ba Vi district on November 22.
Located about 53 km from the center of Hanoi , Ba Vi district has many conditions to develop ecological and natural tourism with a system of mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, and Thuan My hot mineral water source.
In addition, Ba Vi area also has the potential to develop spiritual tourism as there are about 300 historical and cultural relics such as: Uncle Ho Temple, Thuong Temple, Trung Temple and communal houses with the most unique architecture in Vietnam such as: Tay Dang, Thuy Phieu, Thanh Lung...
Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Ba Vi district, Le Khac Nhu, informed that tourism development has contributed to the shift in the local economic structure towards increasing the proportion of services and reducing the proportion of agriculture. It is expected that from now until 2025, the proportion of services and tourism will reach 55 - 60% in the district's economic structure.
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, Ba Vi is a destination that many tourists visit on weekends with new products such as: Health care tourism; herbal baths; resorts at Thien Son - Suoi Nga, Tan Da Resort, Melia Resort; visiting rose gardens at Paragon Resort; agricultural tourism; cultural - spiritual tourism in the communes of Van Hoa, Yen Bai, Ba Vi, Ba Trai, Co Do, Minh Quang...
At the workshop, delegates assessed that although Ba Vi has great potential and has new tourism products, tourism has not yet “taken off”. The tourism connection infrastructure is mainly small-scale, making it difficult to transport tourists.
In particular, Ba Vi does not have a comprehensive strategic plan, so there is still a situation of "everyone doing their own thing", lack of connection between routes, tourist attractions and travel agencies... Domestic and foreign tourists still mainly travel to Ba Vi in the form of self-guided exploration.
To overcome these shortcomings and help Ba Vi tourism develop commensurate with its potential and advantages, experts say that Hanoi in general and Ba Vi in particular should have policies to mobilize resources to invest in building tourism infrastructure, especially in transport; upgrading historical sites and scenic spots, and supporting businesses in building products.
In addition, Ba Vi needs to deploy information technology, provide free wifi at tourist attractions; create conditions for investors to build a system of stores introducing local specialties at tourist areas; should focus on high-end resort products, health care tourism, promoting the cultural identity of the Muong and Dao ethnic groups...
