This is a great potential for the locality to build suitable tourism products and models, thereby attracting investment and promoting the development of the province's "smokeless industry". According to Dr. Doan Ngoc Khoi, Deputy Director of the Quang Ngai Provincial Museum, Binh Chau land is very famous in the map of Western missionaries drawing international maritime routes with the name Ba Tan Gan and Ba Tan Gan cape (today is Ba Lang An cape).

The Sa Huynh and Binh Chau culture residents have a tradition of going to sea from a very early age, typically when the excavation unit found traces of residence, burials and many pottery, bronze, iron, etc. at the Suoi Chinh and Xom Oc sites in Ly Son island district, it showed that Binh Chau residents had sailed to the island and gone far out to sea very early. "The path to Sa Huynh culture is the origin of Binh Chau residents and until now, fishermen still continue the tradition of going to sea and clinging to the sea. Recently, the Sa Huynh residence and burial site in Binh Chau commune was ranked as a provincial historical relic with a protected area of about 20 hectares," said Dr. Khoi. Binh Chau has all the natural geological conditions, cultural heritage, and local history, so there needs to be a solution to manage, protect, operate, and develop this place. Dr. Khoi said that, first of all, the locality needs to have a management board for historical and cultural relics and scenic spots of Binh Chau commune and determine to preserve heritage values associated with human values in that heritage.

Recently, Hon Nhan landscape in Binh Chau commune has been explored by many tourists because of its poetic and unique beauty. This is considered the second "Ganh Da Dia" after Ganh Da Dia of Phu Yen province. The rock island was created from the eruption and tectonic activity of volcanic sediments. Around Hon Nhan, there are many colorful coral reefs. Hon Nhan is about 10 - 15 minutes by boat from the coast. Tourists can rent boats and canoes from local people to come here to watch the sunrise or sunset and immerse themselves in the clear, poetic sea water. Mr. Bui Van Binh, Binh Chau commune, said that Hon Nhan landscape is increasingly attracting tourists because of its wild beauty. Every week, his canoe picks up 2 - 3 groups of tourists, each trip has an average of 5 - 10 people. He hopes that in the future, Hon Nhan will be invested in, exploited and developed to a worthy level of tourism, known by many domestic and foreign tourists.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hao, Vice Chairwoman of Binh Chau Commune People's Committee, shared that Binh Chau has enough potential for historical, cultural and scenic tourism values; however, in the past, the locality has not had any suitable tourism model, mainly people doing tourism spontaneously. "The construction of a community tourism model is very necessary with the support of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the guiding unit to shape community tourism here, develop the cultural values of the community, managed, exploited and benefited by the community", Ms. Hao said. During the period from 1999 to present, thousands of antiques have been discovered from shipwrecks in the Binh Chau sea area (Binh Son district, Quang Ngai). For example, in 2012, fishermen in Chau Thuan Bien village, Binh Chau commune, discovered ceramics in a sunken ancient ship. Excavation traces showed that the ship was burned before sinking, inside there were Yuan Dynasty coins, the latest coin dated 1264-1295; In 2014, an ancient shipwreck was also discovered, with broken artifacts including bowls, plates, and plates dating back to the early 17th century..., so this place is considered a "shipwreck cemetery".

Mr. Pham Tan Thi, Phu Quy village, Binh Chau commune, said that "the local potential is great but there is no capital, it is very difficult for people to develop, so there needs to be a clear development orientation, such as initially exploiting and developing community tourism from members of the Binh Chau Commune Antiquities Association, from there spreading to the community". To develop tourism in Binh Chau commune, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai has coordinated with local authorities to build a model of "Promoting community tourism, associated with Sa Huynh cultural relics in Binh Chau commune". In this model, tourism products are formed on the basis of existing natural and cultural heritage; using indigenous human resources; building service products and implementing tourism infrastructure investment activities associated with preserving natural and cultural - historical heritage.

“Through the model, a tour connecting Binh Chau with neighboring destinations will be established, suitable for sightseeing, experiencing geology, and island culture associated with the Sa Huynh cultural site in Binh Chau commune. At the same time, a plan for community tourism cooperation will be developed, aiming to develop community tourism destinations in Binh Chau commune, helping people participate and develop the economy from tourism activities,” said Nguyen Tien Dung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai.
