Sharing the reason for carrying out this collaborative project, director Mo Hong-jin, who is also the scriptwriter, said that the idea had been in his mind for many years and the project Mang Me Di Bo was both a challenge and an opportunity for him. Therefore, during the process of making each scene, it was an unforgettable memory.

Director Mo Hong-jin was particularly impressed with the performances of the two main actors Hong Dao and Tuan Tran.

For Hong Dao, the Korean director said, he remembered the scene where the female artist ran after the ambulance the most. Meanwhile, the scene where Tuan Tran danced on the street after leaving his mother at the temple was something he could never forget. Sitting and directing the performance and directly witnessing the two actors made him choke up, at times unable to hold back his tears.

As for Juliet Bao Ngoc - who plays the role of Hong Dao when she was young, her careful preparation and love for Korea surprised the director.

Taking Mother Away tells the fate of Hoan (Tuan Tran) - a young man who every day transforms into a "street clown" with the job of cutting hair on the sidewalk to earn money to take care of his mother.

Hoan’s mother, Le Thi Hanh (Hong Dao), suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and acts like a child. Her mother’s illness not only burdens her with making a living, but also takes away from Hoan a life of freedom with unfulfilled dreams.

One day, Hoan decided to "abandon" his mother to his older brother in Korea, a man whose face Hoan himself did not even know.

According to producer Phan Gia Nhat Linh, this collaborative project was launched 2 years ago. He said, compared to previous collaborative films, Mang Me Di Bo shows equality between the parties.

This time, the Vietnamese crew was involved in giving comments on the script from the beginning with the spirit of co-creation and shared responsibility. Phan Gia Nhat Linh emphasized that to make the film more Vietnamese, the crew made many changes to small details in the film.

Although the film is a psychological and family film, it has a story that is quite common in Korean cinema, but according to director Mo Hong-jin, the film does not put the mother with Alzheimer's disease in the center position. Instead, he wants to deeply exploit the aspects of maternal love, filial piety and love of the Vietnamese people.

“I want to find the answer when the story is pushed to the climax, how that love will be expressed,” the director emphasized. At the same time, he said he wanted to bring the story of Vietnamese family love to the world with new emotions.
