A look around the market on June 3rd.

Chili prices are rising.

Many types of chili peppers, including horn peppers, bird's eye peppers, and green Siamese peppers, in the Mekong Delta have seen price increases of 4,000-10,000 VND/kg compared to over a month ago. Bird's eye peppers are currently being purchased by traders at 17,000-20,000 VND/kg, whereas previously they were only 13,000-16,000 VND/kg; red and yellow horn peppers, previously 10,000-15,000 VND/kg, are now 16,000-22,000 VND/kg; and green Siamese peppers are the most expensive, reaching 40,000-45,000 VND/kg. The price increase is due to reduced supply as farmers have decreased their planting area. Recently, chili yields and production have decreased due to unfavorable production conditions and erratic weather patterns.

Bird's eye chili peppers are grown in Phuoc Thoi ward, Can Tho city.

Pangasius fingerling prices have dropped.

Compared to about a month ago, the price of pangasius fingerlings in the Mekong Delta has decreased by 15,000-20,000 VND/kg and is currently at its lowest level in many months. Pangasius fingerlings (30-35 fish/kg) are being sold at 40,000-45,000 VND/kg, a 50% decrease compared to January 2026. The sharp price drop is due to the lower demand for commercial pangasius farming compared to previous months. Meanwhile, the supply of fingerlings has increased significantly as production facilities have massively increased their stocking from the period of high prices before.

Pork prices have fallen.

Pork prices in the Mekong Delta have decreased by approximately 3,000 VND/kg compared to more than two weeks ago. On June 1st, traders and businesses were buying live pigs at 67,000-68,000 VND/kg, whereas previously the price was 70,000-71,000 VND/kg. The decrease in pork prices is due to abundant supply, while market consumption tends to slow down due to competition from other types of fish and meat that are currently quite cheap.
