Thus, the entertainment program captivated the audience with its lyrical and melodious tunes amidst the bustling urban landscape of the Cai Khe Commercial Center. Many passersby also stopped to enjoy the program, applauding each performance.
Shortly after the establishment of the Cai Khe Ward Comprehensive Service Center, the locality began strengthening cultural, artistic, and sports activities to better serve the people. The Traditional Music and Stage Club meets every Saturday evening, with a well-equipped and comfortable meeting room. Besides the advisor, Meritorious Artist Dao Xinh, the club also boasts many skilled artists such as musician Van Quyt, composer Thanh Trang, and artist Le Huu Ly…
According to artisan Le Huu Ly, the club's chairman, "From the early days when we were still unfamiliar with and facing difficulties regarding facilities and musical instruments, the club was established with over 30 members, including two dance and children's performing arts groups. Despite having different professions and ages, everyone shares a common passion for art. The club has experienced artisans who are always ready to teach, and also many enthusiastic young people who are keeping the passion alive. That is a fundamental advantage," Mr. Le Huu Ly emphasized.
Artisan Van Quyt further shared that he is very happy to see the club has many young members and will wholeheartedly pass on his skills. For him, that is the way to keep traditional Southern Vietnamese folk music alive amidst contemporary life.
Mr. Tran Trong Khoi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cai Khe Ward, believes that establishing the club is just the beginning. For the club to operate effectively, deepen its impact, and truly become a common home for those passionate about traditional music and singing, it is necessary to develop operating regulations and maintain regular, organized activities. The club should also focus on passing on skills, actively seeking, discovering, and nurturing young talents, especially teenagers in the ward, instilling in them pride and love for traditional art.
In particular, the ward leaders suggested that the club diversify its activities to align with local movements. “The management board needs to proactively coordinate with the ward's Department of Culture and Social Affairs to bring the club's performances to major holidays and political , cultural, and social events. They should also research and subtly integrate content promoting the building of a cultured and civilized urban life into artistic works in a relatable way,” Mr. Tran Trong Khoi emphasized.
Amidst the bustling market streets and the hurried pace of urban life, the melodies of traditional Southern and Northern Vietnamese folk songs resonate. The music and singing of the Cai Khe Ward Traditional Music Club showcase the enduring vitality of this heritage and express the heartfelt sentiments of those who love and preserve this art form, ensuring its continued existence.
